Professional Biography[edit]

Paul Lomax is Head of New Media at GMG Regional Media, a division of the Guardian Media Group comprising of two operating businesses: MEN Media, publishers of The Manchester Evening News and Surrey & Berkshire Media, publishers of the Surrey Advertiser.

Paul joined GMGRM in 2008 to run the digital unit with responsibility for digital sales, product development, strategy and ad operations across the portfolio of websites which include the Manchester Evening News, The Jobs Mine, The Homes Mine and over 20 local newspaper websites. He divides his time between MEN Media's head office in Manchester and his home in London.

Prior to joining GMG, Paul was Technology and Operations Director for nearly two years at Pod1 London, the UK’s fastest growing creative digital agency, renowned for its innovative and successful e-commerce websites for the high street fashion industry. As well as working more recently in news media, Paul spent nearly seven years at consumer magazine publisher IPC Media in a variety of roles including Digital Publisher and Internet Technology Manager, the latter running IPC’s 40-strong internal web design and development department, which he formed in 2002.

Paul has been responsible for launching literally hundreds of high-profile consumer websites and campaigns over the last 12 years with specialist experience in technology, usability, project management, product development, sales and marketing both in digital media, traditional media, agency and e-commerce arenas. Sites launched include household brands such as Marie Claire, Now, Country Life, Myla, Kurt Geiger and Jigsaw.

Before IPC, he was founder and managing director of Max Internet, a web design, build and hosting company based in his birth town of Stockport. Paul studied Computing and Information Systems with Management Accounting at the University of Manchester.

In his spare time Paul enjoys cooking, fine wine and dining, Manchester City Football Club, music, films, networking, spending time with his fianceé, Sarah, and occasionally finds time to blog on his site, twopointoh. He is often found in the middle of a book, usually about technology, management or history with the odd bit of fiction, and follows countless blogs on a variety of subjects. He is a published photographer, journalist, constant twitterer and social networker.
