I think this should be renamed under Battle Vixens, which is the English title. Currently, the list of manga has Battle Vixens, which has no page, while the list of anime has Ikki Tousen. They need to be standardized. Fadeblue 22:44, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so, since Ikkitousen is the original name for the anime and (if I'm not mistaken) its English name as well. If anything, somebody could post a link to the manga article inside the anime article and vice-versa. Also, they could make the word "Ikkitousen" lead here, sincem it took me a while to find the artcle before I realized it was under the name "Ikki Tousen" and many people use its single-word title. The manga came first. The anime is based on it. The manga has been released in the US as "Battle Vixens" and the anime as "Ikki Tousen." The article should be about the manga first, and talk about the anime as an adaptation of it. Marshall Stax (talk) 19:15, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Ikki Tousen is the romaji title of the series. However, the manga (the primary work) has been licensed in English by two different licensors (Madman doesn't distribute the series in North America, mind you) as Battle Vixens. This should be renamed. The anime is licensed as "Ikkitousen". This means that "Ikkitousen" now qualifies as an English title (English titles are allowed to include foreign words and still be considered English titles). Moreover, "Ikkitousen" is clearly the most common name. WP:USEENGLISH is not an excuse to use a less common name instead of a more common name just because it's "English". Plot summary[edit]

The plot summary needs heavy rewriting for POV removal- it sounds more like a review site. Also, info on characters, historical connections, moves, magatamas, and school rivalry.

--- I've changed the translation of "ikkitousen" to use "rider" instead of "knight". It's illogical to translate it as "knight" when the concept didn't even exist then. "Rider" is the actual meaning of the 騎 character, anyway. -- creamyhorror, June 2008

Controversy[edit]

The series was criticised by the Chinese government for being an innacurate portrayal of the Three Kingdoms history. Some poses have also been copied or traced over from Tengo Tenghe.

Well, in the "short description" I can very distinctly see that there are 13 episodes in the sequel, and, when I look down at the plot summary or whatever, I can see that there 12 episodes... so, whitch one is it? 12 or 13? (sequel I mean)

discontinuity ruins the series[edit]

This article needs to be given some cleanup and reassessment to fit Wiki standards, but sadly the series(as a whole) itself is very tricky to summarize, mostly due to the fact that the first season was done in a half hearted manner filled with pointless fanservice being the main plot in every other episode and the second season being a having a more serious approach with change in character behavior(when compared to the first season). In short, the change in directors for the respective seasons sent the difference in the two seasons into overkill mode...and not to forget the manga itself, on which the anime is not based on plot to plot. The least anyone can do is wait until the third season comes out and reconsider editing this article and doing the respective changes based on how the new season sheds a new light on this series. Manga titles?[edit]

It's not any of the three, it does have various moments of ecchiness (is that how you say it?? xD) but the series on the whole is a lot more serious, more focused on the storyline and the action than anything else. "Borderline schizophrenic" does not describe fighting and non-fighting styles which are opposites. "Borderline passive-aggressive" does describe it. If the described character was borderline schizophrenic, she'd have vivid hallucinations in which various characters from the Middle Kingdom talk to her in visions, sort of like Joan of Arc. She also would get her ass kicked a lot because of the distraction of her visions from actually fighting, due to severe anxiety, associated depression, etc. After getting her ass kicked a lot she would also experience hypomania, and boast about being able to stay up days learning new battle techniques when actually she is hiding in her room having a day-long vision. 20:14 27 July 2009 (PST) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.83.76.113 (talk)

ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS, People![edit]

Ok. This is possibly the BIGGEST flaw of the article. Well, first of all, I have never seen ANY of the series content, but yet I've nearly finished the Moss Roberts translation of said title. So with that: what battles from the book were really adapted? And what exactly happened at the Battle of Red Cliffs? Was it the same old "Zhuge-Liang-summons-southeast-wind-Huang-Gai-sets-fire-to-Cao-Cao's-ships-with-fake-surrender" concept, or what? Seriously, all of THIS is the big flaw, here! Do you really think they would completely base the series off the whole Romance of the Three Kingdoms? If people wanted to read that, they'd read the book, not a anime/manga adaptation of it, as anything short of like 20 seasons or like 50 volumes would be seriously cutting out parts of the story in the first place. Japanese title[edit]

Why is this not titled "Ikki-tousen"? "Battle Vixens" is used *only* for the manga and for the UK video release. The Japanese title is far more widely used. Google gives me 3.7 million hits for "ikkitousen" and 63800 for "battle vixens", so it should be named "Ikki Tousen" just because it's the most commonly used title in English.
