Review[edit]

ANN review Here's a review of Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna that can be used to add to the reception section, which by the way I think could use some sort of separation. The manga, anime, films, video game etc. all bunched into one doesn't look good. Xfansd (talk) 23:30, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

notable page?[edit]

A new user created this Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, it has the exact same info as List of Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine episodes (minus the episodes). If Funimation releases it on home video I can maybe see it having its own article, just like Lupin III Part II, but as of now I think it should be deleted/redirected. Discussion of the naming for the first 3 anime series[edit]

I believe that between sources I already have and sources I have on the way, there is enough information for developing individual pages for the first 3 anime series. There is already a minimal page for the second series that I plan to expand. The only problem is that the naming system for the three series is erratic at best, and needs to be settled for both article names as well as any text within articles (obviously we can note alternate names for each series on the respective page). The second series is frequently fan-tagged "Shin Lupin III" which as far as I can tell only came about through confusion with the second manga, which did actually use that name. Either way, we can strike it from the choices.

The 40th anniversary anime history book lists them as Part1 Part2 and PartIII but the VHS/DVD/BD's are first tv, second tv and PartIII (note:no BD's for third series yet it seems).

Discotek labelled the original series as The Complete First Series, while Geneon/Pioneer didn't bother labelling their release of the second series.

Hulu refer to them as Part I, Part II, and Part III.

The other alternative is to name the series as something like Lupin III (1971 series) etc.

I don't know what any guidelines are regarding such naming but I'm leaning towards Part I/II/III as it's used on Hulu and the closest we have to official english language consistency. The other issue comes from the series naming in general. Personally I'm in favour of keeping them all as Lupin III, but it may be that guidelines say otherwise as many of the english releases of the series use Lupin the 3rd or Lupin the Third.

Any feedback is welcome.

Well, I'm not a connoisseur of Lupin but as nobody took part on this discusion, and I don't like to see someone been ignored, I would only tell you to go ahead. I have almost sure that when you create those pages someone will appear to disagree. However, we'll never know if it'll work unless someone try to do it. I'm for using whatever name that's being officially for said subject's English localization. We've got articles using Lupin III in places where the translation is official written Lupin the 3rd whether it be original Japanese or English localization. Sarujo (talk) 18:30, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it could be argued that "The Third" is the current name of choice, but it still gets written as Lupin III in some places as well as still be in popular use in general. So do you name by each individual piece of media, which can be confusing (many of which have multiple titles - the first movie has five between JP and Western releases) or take a consistent name? Well the manga is the primary work and was released as Lupin III in the US/UK. Either way this is fairly complex and so I've no intention of doing anything right now. Lupin the IIIrd?[edit]

SephyTheThird, we had a dispute some time ago about whether the alternate spelling of 'Lupin the IIIrd' should be included in the article. Your argument was that it had only really been used in Jigen's Gravestone and not in any other versions of the franchise, ergo it wasn't necessary. However, it has come to my attention that at least one version of the manga (Images here: http://lupinmanga.tumblr.com/page/2) used this spelling. Should we include Lupin the IIIrd or leave it as it is? PatTheMoron (talk) 03:25, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'd still like to see some more. The lack of consistency causes issues because trying to list all the variations in the lead is difficult to do well. With Jigen and the new series they seem intent on making more confusion not less. The new series is largely just being called "new series" in Japan, but the cover art for the soundtrack says "Part IV", which would make everything so much easier if they used that for everything.

Part 3 Infobox?[edit]

Is there any reason for leaving the infobox for Part III? Would it not belong on a page on its own, like Parts 1, 2, 4, etc.? Just an inquiry. Sarcataclysmal (talk) 08:32, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is because there is not an article about Part III. I would like to make one, but Part III is the one Lupin series I have not watched, so maybe others would be better suited to write it.--Alexandra IDVtalk 14:41, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
