question[edit]

Are you saying that I have to put a closing tag for the vfd? I don't really get what you're saying. Or are you saying that I have to add that page to the vfd list? I thought it just added automatically? --Rentastrawberry 00:07, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

I looked at the page and I believe I understand it. I'll remember to use the other tag. If you see that I did something wrong just let me know on my talk page, and please change it so I wouldn't have as much wikiembarassment.

how the hell did you learn all this Rentastrawberry 01:04, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

one more thing....how do you get the "you have new messages" thing to go away. Rentastrawberry 01:07, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Gallery markup[edit]

Thanks for the note. I like getting the aforemented message notice too much. Anyway, I noted of the change in markup when I was working cleaning up Audrey Munson the other night, and I was pleasantly surprised. ~~ShiriTalk~~ 04:46, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Once Upon a Time[edit]

Grammer[edit]

What? I was fixing the grammer of the caption on the image? Did I miss something? -- 208.187.198.47 08:17, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

help[edit]

I tried the new vfd thing, and I can't get it. This is what I do. I go to the page, put the {{subst:vfd}} tag on the page. Then I go to the entry thing for why i wanted it deleted, and I tell why and put a heading. Then I save the page. Now I go to the Wikipedia: Votes for deletion page and put {{Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion/Page Name}} . It always messes up. What am I doing? --Rentastrawberry 22:26, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

I got it! I can't believe that all you did was put D instead of d. Thats crazy--Rentastrawberry 01:55, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism from that IP[edit]

Actually, the vandalism was to Anthony's user talk page. As it was personal attack vandalism, it was clear that the IP knew what he was doing, and so I blocked. Snowspinner 12:12, Apr 8, 2005 (UTC)

Reversion[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit ([1]) which I assume was made in error. Thanks! — Knowledge Seeker 19:13, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

This must be what they call a revert conflict then. I reverted to a version without the "gay nigger"-bit, at least that was what it looked like on my end of the line. Weird. Shinobu 20:11, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Ok, I put my coin image on the parodies page then.[edit]

Bhili Language[edit]

Hey Knowledge Seeker (sorry, I don't know your name...) could you take a minute and check out the stub at Bhili language as well as the discussion on its talk page and the VfD page? Could you also check briefly to see whether there is a Hindi or Gujarati article that can be interwikied? Do you know anyone involved with either of those wikipediæ who might be willing to take the time to contribute more to the Bhili language article? I found the article भीली, in the Hindi Wikipedia, but I'm not sure how relevant that miniscule article is (I don't actually know any hindian languages...) Thanks for your time, Tomer TALK 21:51, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

Hey! hi:Tomer does so work!  ;-) Cool. An article about me, in Hindi, and I'm so special they named it with the Roman alphabet. (Obviously, I'm joking...) Thanks for taking the time to look it over, as well as for your efforts to get others to maybe look into further developing it. Tomer TALK 08:14, Apr 12, 2005 (UTC)

Abuse of power[edit]

Can you please unblock my account? I was in the midst of performing contributory edits and was not trying to be disruptive, as User:Snowspinner put it. Yes I do openly support GRider's efforts to better school articles on Wikipedia but I hardly see how that is a reason to ban someone. School Inclusionist 02:29, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC) [208.62.7.133 (talk · contribs)]

Hi, School Inclusionist, thanks for contacting me. Unfortunately, I'm not comfortable in removing your block, as I am still a new administrator and this issue is not very clear-cut for me. I was about to ask for some outside opinions on WP:AN/I, but I see they are already discussing it there. I, personally, would not have blocked you, but I deal with more straightforward issues like vandalism. Also, it is a bit unusual for a new user to register with a name representing a side in a controversial debate and jump right in to editing on that topic. The timing of your arrival, right after User:GRider was blocked, probably raised a few eyebrows as well. I'm not accusing anything, but just pointing out why people might be wondering. — Knowledge Seeker 08:24, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Block conflicts[edit]

Hey KS, sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. I have a sort of mental block when it comes to doing anything related to computers, and I put it off, suppress the memory of it, pretend it doesn't exist etc., and I'm afraid I've done that with this block-conflict script. I have no idea what to do with it, and so I've tried to forget about it; then I realized that I must seem very rude, so I'm sorry, and I will try to install it! ;-) SlimVirgin (talk) 09:40, Apr 17, 2005 (UTC)

KS, thank you for doing this. It is very kind of you. I'm still not entirely sure, however, where I'm supposed to see the tabs. In fact, I have no idea. LOL! Sorry. (Cringe)
Regarding Human, I didn't see the first parenthesis. The reason I reverted is that he said lack of water leads to thirst and dehydration, whereas dehydration and thirst makes more sense, which was the order it was in before he changed it. However, not to worry, because I'm about to go in and do a copy edit, as I see a previous edit has undone some grammatical corrections. SlimVirgin (talk) 08:22, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)
I finally got it to work, thank you! I cleared my browser cache and rebooted, and then I saw the new tabs, and you're right: they are incredibly useful. Thanks for installing it (or whatever the word is) and for your patience explaining it to me. Also, thanks for spotting what I did at Human. I thought I was going mad imagining non-existent edits. Anything to justify a revert: even an hallucination. ;-) SlimVirgin (talk) 02:16, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)

Number of speakers of Sanskrit[edit]

Dude. I'm almost completely out of my league here...can you check out the latest mini-wasp-nest I'm trying to stir on Talk:Sanskrit language and see what you can do to find accurate data to help resolve the point I'm disputing? I understand per your previous posts to me that you're not a native Hindian speaker, but I'm hoping you'll know where to put a request for figures that are more relevant than a ridiculous "right down to the individual" number from (gasp!) 1961 for Sanskrit speakers... I could use some help...[edit]

Hey, I feel really stupid. I was welcoming PlatypeanArchcow, who had red links on user and talk pages, when I accidently added the note on his/her user page. Just wondering if you could delete the page for the user, in case they don't want a user page. (I guess it does qualify for speedy delete as I am the author...). Thanks. --Dmcdevit 22:42, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I have no disagreement with anyone: my friends and I often post under different usernames, and we post things that are inside jokes and don't make any sense to anyone else. Jerk![edit]

I know what I was doing. I was destoying John Edward's page! He's an idiot! [24.16.36.37 (talk · contribs)]

  • Gotta hate anonymous users as an admin, don't ya? --Harro5 07:21, Apr 23, 2005 (UTC)
You're right; most vandalism comes from anonymous users. But anonymous users also make a lot of great edits and help fight vandalism, so it would be unfair to characterize them all the same way. Besides, I was an anonymous user once too =) Ideally, this guy will find an area of Wikipedia to which he can make positive contributions, and stay. — Knowledge Seeker 07:28, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Indeed. 24.16.36.37, whether or not John Edwards is an idiot is entirely your point of view. Wikipedia is all about writing in as soulless and robotic a manner as possible(!) so your own opinion does not taint the article. Please bear this in mind for future edits. Master Thief Garrett 08:16, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Well, I wouldn't exactly characterize the preferred writing style as soulless and robotic, although if one has difficulty deciding how much emotion to put in an article it'd be better to err on the side of less. But you are correct; the edits 24 was making were certainly unacceptable. — Knowledge Seeker 10:48, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Well, at least (s)he's being honest about it. There's nothing like some good ol' vandalism to raise the spirits and annoy your enemies.
Ah, yes--I think I should write a position paper on the many virtues of vandalism. :-) - Pioneer-12 10:27, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Yes, and label it with the semi-policy header, and have a poll on it, and have some swear by it and others swear AT it... :-) Master Thief Garrett 10:30, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Not only honest, but the user was also kind enough to start a new section for his comment. — Knowledge Seeker 10:48, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Anon User[edit]

The anon user who continually vandalises my page and has put up excuses here is not as geniune as he claims.

The IP address is extremely similar to the many ones used by PSYCH.

The conflict that the anon refers to is months old and the way the anon describes it is exteremely misleading. It has already been to the arbitration committee and resolved that PSYCH is on personal attack parol. There is not much more to it than that. PSYCH is apparantly trying to avoid detection by editting anonomously. This does not fool me as the M.O. is suspiciously similar each time.

If you wish to see the arbitration case click here.

Anyway, thank you for your efforts on my page. Xtra 11:04, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

(Tag) Size Matters[edit]

This is in reference to the discussion I started at Wikipedia_talk:Babel. I'm going to put the Persian and English stubs here side-by-side so that you can see the size difference for yourself.

The only way I can make the Persian tag smaller is by removing the English translation. Even then, it's a tight fit for some of the subcat tags. Any suggestions? Do you know of any other admins or other Wikipedians who might be of help? I really want to coordinate with other tagmakers so that these don't all come out different sizes. --Jpbrenna 01:26, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
