Boosterism and POV[edit]

If someone can contributed good sourced statements saying who it is that "[consider it] to be one of the top high schools in Texas," who says the band is "prestigious," etc. then these would be neutral statement. In their vague forms they are just peacockery and unattributed opinion.

The statement that it has an "award-winning soccer team" should be replaced by one saying what awards, exactly, it has won. One or two of the most important would be sufficient.

The statement that "Coppell Band has been the recipient of a number of awards" should be treated similarly.

The statement that "Graduates from Coppell High School are often found at prestigious universities such as Harvard, Yale, and MIT" is vacuous braggadocio. A statement giving the number of 2004 graduates who were admitted to these three universities would be factual. So would one giving the percentage of the graduating class attending accredited four-year colleges. Dpbsmith (talk) 01:24, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Class of 2006's Prom[edit]

Many people do not realize that the class of 2006 are the lowest funded class, in terms of funds for events such as prom in 27 years. Therefore, if funds are not quickly raised, the senior prom will most likely be held within the school gymnasium, if they are held within a hotel establishment like they have been in the past, the price for addmissions tickets will be at an extravegent rate of at least $100 per person. Prospects for future classes to have a non-school prom also look grim.

The fundrasier choosen was for salsa. There is a contest by a local media that whoever is voted for most will win $10,000 for their prom.

I am NOT a CHS student or Graduate - just thought I'd try to save the article. Please excuse any grammatical errors. I tried to take the solid info that was in the article and remove and POV spins. --129.118.169.143 15:19, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Security Cameras[edit]

CHS has recently installed security cameras at the cost of over $100,000 as well as over $16,000 per year in operational costs. This comes as a response to the drug crimes on the school, (which have been tollerated frequently by many staff members) and increased speeding such as the obscene amount of students who drive 12 M.P.H. in a 10 M.P.H. zone, as well as by request of Officer "Golfcart" Lopez who has no authority and can not even enter the school building during the school day.

And the current student opinion is that this sucks.

As usual, the problem is that this is simply unsubstantiated commentary. Find neutral, reliable, veriable published sources (see WP:V and WP:RS) and these issues could become a defensible part of the article, if written up appropriately. Lawikitejana (talk) 18:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CHS Logo.jpg[edit]

Image:CHS Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After the rash of vandalism over the past two days, I have semi-protected the article. I don't want to fully protect the article, but if necessary, I will.

To any anonymous editors wanting to contribute, I apologize. If you want to request an edit to the article, feel free to discuss it here. —C.Fred (talk) 22:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2011 Update[edit]

I carefully went through the article to remove non-neutral material while also updating infobox and reworking section to make more readable. Several reference links were added and unlinked magazine references removed. There is still some possible non-neutral material to be looked at along with isses with logo used in infobox. This logo appears on the Coppell ISD website and most likely is copyrighted.
