Page move[edit]

I am requesting that this page be moved to Flag of Massachusetts. Its current name violates the common names policy. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). Rhobite 23:30, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm, I just assumed this was a bogus move by some new page move miscreant. It looks as though the original article was first moved here (The Flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts) and then moved to Junk Flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. olderwiser 02:23, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)

about the explanation for the star...[edit]

How does a "white star with five points" ... "signify... Massachusetts' admission as the 6th US State"? 198.49.180.254 22:35, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Flag is Off Center[edit]

The coat of arms on the current Flag of Massachusetts is off center. Is this a mistake with the real flag, or a mistake with Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.197.134.44 (talk) 01:52, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are quite correct, IP user, it was off center! It should not be. Wonder how that happened? I've uploaded a new, centered version of the flag image, so it should be corrected now. (You may need to bypass your browser cache when reloading the page, to see the updated flag image.) -- FeRDNYC (talk) 18:29, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And I've now had to revert that edit, because it turns out the off-centering is neither Wikipedia's nor MA's mistake. According to the official specs, it's intentional! (Why? No idea.) -- FeRDNYC (talk) 18:37, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Obverse, 1908–1971, missing[edit]

According to one of the external links, the obverse of the flag was changed by turning the silver star into a white star, as part of the changes in 1971. There should probably be an image of this, or at the very least a discussion of it. (I will admit that silver doesn't do well in RGB.) David Garfield (talk) 23:09, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Native American reference incorrect[edit]

Algonquin Indigenous Peoples were not in Massachusetts. The reference and spelling is the language spoken, and not the tribe. Many tribes speak Algonguian. Francescanne (talk) 23:29, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
