- 89.210.179.10 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) It has been a while (at least from what I have noticed). Block evasion and vandalism. Exactly the same edits as other IPs in other IP-ranges in this complex. In general, the common thing between the IPs in this complex is this: Removes links to other Greek airports even when referenced. Removes maintenance templates (source requests) from Thessaloniki Airport and from links to this airport. Also removes random links from other Greek airports. Has the opinion that suspended routes to Russian airports are cut. Recently the IPs went into removing suspended destinations from other airlines as if they were already cut. - I don't think this is a violation of policy. The promotional userpage certainly was, but if this is someone's stage name (as opposed to the name of an organisation) there's nothing in policy to prohibit them from posting here under a matching username. Obviously, they would have to adhere to the COI guidance... Girth Summit (blether) 14:06, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
Current requests for increase in protection level[edit]
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Shivaji[edit]
Reason: Disruptive editing on the title of Shivaji, without discussing it on the talk page. Frequent edit warring and suspecting meatpuppetry. Imperial[AFCND] 10:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- The article has been under indefinite semi-protection for about five years now. It does not appear to me that going to ECP would make much of a difference as many contributors already have that user right. The only thing I could imagine doing that could force more talk page discussion would be imposing 1RR. Would you be amenable to that? (I have put a long-overdue CTOPS notice on the talk page). Daniel Case (talk) 20:33, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- I don't have a strong opinion, but looking at edits from the last 2 weeks, 3 out of 8 users involved in the dispute over titles are not EC so ECP probably would improve the situation over the long run. I suspect that even if EC editors reach consensus, the title dispute will continue. Perhaps full protection for a week or two followed by indefinite ECP? Current requests for reduction in protection level[edit]
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Current requests for edits to a protected page[edit]
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

My previous application was rejected as I didn't meet the minimum 25 articles requirement, but now I've surpassed that and continue to create more, mainly focusing on film articles and Indian village and town articles. I believe I have sufficient knowledge about WP:GNG, WP:NFILM, WP:NPOL, and more. Therefore, I think I'm now eligible for this right. Thanks. Grabup (talk) 15:49, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
User:B3251[edit]
I am making a request on behalf of myself, as I sometimes create new articles pretty often (mostly New Brunswick-related). As of right now I have 66 live articles, and I have expanded plenty more. I have had a few deletions: two articles when I was brand new to editing & one list I created in mid-2023 (due to not completely understanding WP:BLPCRIME at the time). Otherwise, my articles have been pretty straightforward and vary in quality, with most being Start/C-class by the time I publish them. I had a little bit of a rough start when it came to "notability knowledge", as many do, but overtime I have grown to have an understanding of WP:GNG and WP:MOS when writing articles. New page reviewer[edit]User:Aplucas0703[edit]
I have made many constructive edits to Wikipedia, and have a decent amount of experience in Articles for Creation, and I have approved AfC reviewer for nearly 1 year. I have had no controversy thus far while working in this area. I mainly want to focus on patrolling the backlog of redirects, but occasionally I would also review articles. I also know my limits, and only work in the areas I am confident in, or I seek help. I am big on assuming the good faith of editors and pointing them in the right direction if their efforts are misguided, as I often do at AfC. aaronneallucas (talk) 04:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC) User:Knowledgegatherer23[edit]

I was added to this group on a 2-month trial period and was instructed by Hey man im josh to re-apply a week before the permission expires. Therefore, I'm requesting to continue using this tool so I can review newly created articles. Thank you. GSS 💬 05:12, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
User:Grabup[edit]
I have actively participated in numerous AFD discussions and have also initiated several. My experience primarily revolves around Indian Film articles, where I've created many articles. I also have dealt with issues such as paid and spammy citations with Admin “Kuru”. While I currently review new articles from the 'New pages feed,' I lack the authority to accept them. However, I regularly tag articles for speedy deletion when they meet the criteria, resulting in their removal. I'm now requesting a one-month trial for the New Page reviewer right. If my contributions are deemed beneficial, I hope to continue, but if not, I understand and am willing to relinquish the right after the trial period. Grabup (talk) 06:54, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
User:PharyngealImplosive7[edit]
I was granted new page reviewer rights temporarily and I think that I'm ready to get them permanently since I've tagged and patroled over 50 pages now. I've also tagged many pages for deletion that were unfit for the wiki. Finally, I would like to participate in the May backlog drive. I thank the reviewing admin for their time and hope that I will be granted this perm. – PharyngealImplosive7 (talk) 16:45, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
User:Melmann[edit]
Hi. I generally rotate between different maintenance activities such as RC patrol, pending changes patrol, and edit request patrol, and would like to contribute to the NPP/AFC queues too. Editing Wikipedia for 15 years, but with long bouts of low activity or inactivity, but I feel I have a strong grasp on the core policies (especially copyright-related). Despite focusing on maintenance mainly, I have created/significantly contributed to few articles, most recently XZ Utils backdoor (permalink when moved from draft to mainspace) and BG3. Thanks for your time. Melmann 22:09, 21 April 2024 (UTC) User:SheriffIsInTown[edit]
I regularly create pages and want to save others time from reveiwing pages created by me, in addition to that I would be able to help with the backlog. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 00:22, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

I requested and was granted one month of the permission previously ([4]), to participate in the January 2024 NPP backlog where I reviewed 51 articles. I have been away from Wikipedia for a few months due to personal issues, but I plan to get back into editing the next few days/weeks and would like to participate in the upcoming May backlog drive. I don't mind if the permission is granted on a permanent or temporary basis. Darcyisverycute (talk) 03:34, 25 April 2024 (UTC) User:Nebulousquasar[edit]

User:CanonNi[edit]
Hello. I would like to request NPP rights to help review newly-created articles and lower the backlog. To start, I have over 5500 edits on en.wiki, with over 1500 in the mainspace. I also have moderate experience in the article creation process, being a AfC reviewer and having created several articles. I also have experience in the deletion process, having tagged lots of pages for CSD (and later having most of them deleted) and participating in AfD. If the NPP right is granted, I will start carefully patrolling the NewPagesFeed and contributing to the reviewing process. Thank you for considering my request! User:Mevoelo[edit]
I would love to apply to be a New Page Reviewer. With my experience on Wikipedia, I believe that I will be able to effectively contribute in this area. I hope my request is well considered. Many thanks. Mevoelo (talk) 08:35, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
User:Asparagusus[edit]
Hello! I'm requesting New Pages Reviewer rights because I like working with new articles and editors, and I want to help with the May drive. I've been an AfC reviewer since October 2022, and know how to treat these new articles. Also, I participated in the November 2023 WPAFC drive and helped to get that backlog down to zero. I copyedit, but now I primarily work in counter-vandalism. I'm a pending changes reviewer and a rollbacker as well. Thanks! —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 14:37, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

I have extensive experience with new page creation and expanding stubs into appropriately sourced articles, and I also engage regularly (and constructively!) in AfD debates and PRODs with a good understanding of applicable policies. I'd like to use this permission to participate in the upcoming backlog drive, and enable some of my existing NPP activity to have further positive impact (eg. I currently draftify/CSD/welcome newbies where appropriate). I'm specifically requesting now as I've recently gained more experience with DYK nominations, AfD, and AfC, so feel ready. Hi, I want to be a net positive as a new page reviewer. Especially ahead of the new page patroller drive that's upcoming. I've long been interested in coming towards this and reviewing new pages to cut down on the current backlog and it seems like a fun hobby to do via reviewing pages. I also have some AFD experience especially in identifying areas of dubious sources. Noorullah (talk) 05:45, 28 April 2024 (UTC) User:Tobyhoward[edit]
Hi, I would like to volunteer as a new page reviewer. I am a fairly experienced editor (since 2006: contribs >4,900, articles created >40). I am familiar with core WP principles and polices. I'd like to help with the backlog. Thanks for considering my request. Tobyhoward (talk) 08:06, 28 April 2024 (UTC) User:Aezarebski[edit]
Hi, I would like to volunteer as a new page reviewer for the upcoming backlog drive. I enjoyed participating in the unreferenced articles backlog drive earlier in the year and would like to help out on this one. Thanks for considering my request, and for organising the drive. Pending changes reviewer[edit]User:2003 LN6[edit]
I have recently received rollback rights a few weeks ago, and I would like to request for pending changes reviewer because I believe that I would be good at reviewing pending changes. With around four months of experience patrolling RecentChanges and fulfilling all of the criteria, I believe that I am a good candidate for this right. Thank you. 2003 LN6 16:19, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

I'm actively participating in editing and reverting disruptive edits, vandalism by patrolling the RecentChanges. I use Twinkle/RedWarn to revert edits. I'm interested in pending changes reviewer rights so I can patrol any new edits that involves Vandalism, Disruptive Edits, Edit Testings, Trolls and approve constructive edits. Looking forward :) 𝓡𝔂𝓭𝓮𝔁 17:15, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

I have experience in patrolling recent changes for vandalism and other forms of nonconstructive editing, and other places for content policies, using various gadgets. It would be nice to have the ability to properly review edits on pages with pending changes protection. Cleo Cooper (talk) 20:47, 26 April 2024 (UTC) User:Morris80315436[edit]

Hello, for some time now I have been patrolling Special:RecentChanges occasionally and reverting vandalisms that I identify, using Twinkle. In addition to reverting, of course I also notify the users who commit these acts of vandalism. I also usually make reports to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. I'm adding this request for obtaining the rollback tool here because I would like to have access to semi-automatic tools, namely Huggle, which would greatly facilitate the work currently done with several clicks. I enjoy patrolling recent changes and I'm sure that becoming a rollbacker would make my work easier. I have been a rollbacker on Commons for over a year and understand how the tool works, as well as the risks associated with it, committing myself not to misuse it, under the risk of losing it and possibly being blocked. Thanks, RodRabelo7 (talk) 05:29, 28 April 2024 (UTC) RodRabelo7 (talk) 05:29, 28 April 2024 (UTC)

"Do you want to take a survey?"[edit]
On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.
On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.
Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
