August 14: Independence Day in Pakistan (1947)

Roosevelt and Churchill

1720 – The Spanish Villasur expedition, intended to slow the progress of French influence on the Great Plains of North America, ended in failure when it was ambushed by Pawnee and Otoe forces.
1941 – After a secret meeting in Newfoundland, British prime minister Winston Churchill and U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt (both pictured) issued the Atlantic Charter, establishing a vision for a post–World War II world.
1975 – The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered in London, the first in its record-breaking run in cinemas, which continues in limited release.
2013 – Security forces raided two camps of supporters of the ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi in Cairo, leading to the deaths of at least 595 civilians.

Frank and John Craighead[edit]

There's a bit of an edit war going on about including Frank and John Craighead that I am not a party to. I'll point out that this is a weird case, perhaps warranting an exception to the rule that the person has to have an article about them to be included. They have both a joint article about them and a joint birthday - they were twins. I'd argue in favor of inclusion. Just my €0.02 worth. Toddst1 (talk) 03:35, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Toodst1. I am one of the parties. I probably wasn't going to pursue it further, but I do favor an exception. For anyone interested the policy is in the first paragraph of WP:BIRTHDOY, and we have made other exceptions, most notably for Wilbur and Orville Wright. Reliable sources[edit]

If Kayla Sims does streams where she confirms her birthday is August 14, 1999, shouldn’t the videos be considered a reliable source. Janers0217 (talk) 06:59, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
