Concorde also landed at Gander on numerous occasions.

I think that the picture of the radial engine should be replaced with a picture of Gander, or of its airport on September 11th. The engine picture could be taken anywhere, and belongs in a different article. Axeman89 17:21, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • there was also an episode of unsolved mysteries about a plane that crashed into this town.

December 12,1985[edit]

the unsolved mystery surrounds the crash of the Arrow air charter on December 12 ,1985. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.59.3.93 (talk) 20:57, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it's not 'unsolved', the aircraft took off at too low an airspeed and power setting for its weight, which had been underestimated, and in addition the aircraft was carrying some ice, which had not been present on the earlier legs of the flight. The aircraft staggered into the air and then remained almost at the stall, unable to lower its nose to accelerate because it was too low, and never getting out of ground effect.
The danger of icing was later proven after the Dryden accident and the subsequent USAir Flight 405 accident.
Unfortunately, in such situations, unless you add airspeed, the one thing the aeroplane won't do, not matter how much you may want it to, is climb. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.144.50.224 (talk) 09:06, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear[edit]

While adding links I also added an unclear tag for the following "...retained an experienced United States Representative...". With a capital "R" it would seem to indicate that the town had hired someone from the United States House of Representatives which is where "United States Representative" redirects to. On the other hand if they have hired someone from the US to lobby and represent the town then that should be a small "r". Does anybody know to which it refers. • I'm not exactly sure. That part was already there before I reorganized the article a bit and I just left it there... NeonFire (talk) 12:03, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
