I changed capoeria to tae kwan do. I've seen the movie and the style resembles nothing like capoeria.-intranetusa

I thought the Lion King Theme was woven in and out through the movie. Also, when there are sad scenes involving Mui, Grieg's "Solveyg's Song" is playing.

The two dreadlocked soccer players during the semi-finals were the female protagontists from two of his previous movies, "God of Cooking" (Karen Mok) and "God of Acting" (I don't remember her name)

intranet, how does it resemble TKD at all? TKD has close to NO groundwork. Team Evil's "Iron Head" was enhanced with steroids which made him "more powerful" than Iron Head) The Chinese Pronounciation of his name is Teet Tou Gung. His stance is balancing on his head.

Second Big Brother;Hooking Kick: Suffering from a a receding hairline and baldness, he works as a collector of feces and urine and a dishwasher. His ability is to do circular footsweeps, whirlwind kicks and spin kicks. The Chinese Pronounciation of his name is Shoon Fung Day Tong Tui.

Goalkeeper[edit]

His name is "Empty Hand" and not "Iron Palm". Do you ever see him use his palms to strike anyone in the entire movie? No. He uses his fast hands to catch things. This is for the anonymous user who keeps on changing it back. (Ghostexorcist 21:59, 22 February 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Unverified information[edit]

"In the last scene, when Mui plays a goal-keeper and saves the goal by using her Tai Chi techniques, the Lion King theme song plays in background."

Is there proof of this? The music playing is similar to Lion King, but it's part of the original Shaolin Soccer soundtrack. Someone should remove this information unless someone can verify this information with a reference.

Why the hell would you strike a line through a sentence on the main article? There is already a tag asking for a citation. What you did could be considered vandalism. Do not do it again!

There's no need to be downright offensive about it. I didn't want to remove it just in case someone could verify it, but I didn't want it to be mistaken as true either. Also, I'm the one that put the citation tag on it at the same time. I did what I thought was right in the best interest of accurate information. If it was wrong, thanks for correcting it, but you don't have to be a jackass about it.

And just who are you precisely? What he did might not be standard Wikipedia procedure, but certainly many editors would've simply removed the entire uncited section, especially if he saw that the song was included on the "original Shaolin Soccer soundtrack". Using strikeout instead was at worst a formatting gaff--it's certainly not vandalism, because it's not vandalism to remove unsourced material if you have reason to suspect it is inaccurate. --Lode Runner 03:57, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • With a gross of slightly over HK$60M, Shaolin Soccer became the highest grossing local film in Hong Kong history, to be surpassed by Stephen Chow's next film, Kung Fu Hustle.
  • Miramax released an edited version of Shaolin Soccer in the US market on April 2, 2004. Missing over 20 minutes of footage, and featuring English dubbing, the Miramax release came under heavy criticism from Hong Kong film fans (not to mention box office because people had bought the imported DVDs three years earlier), leading the studio to reinstate both the excised footage and the original Chinese language audio as a viewer option for the US DVD release.
  • In the 1994 Stephen Chow movie, Love on Delivery, Ng Man Tat plays a cripple who is a has-been martial artist. In one scene he is hit in the face by a stray soccer ball. When asked by Stephen Chow's character whether he is fine, Ng Man Tat's character replies: "I'm all right. I have practiced kung fu."

PUMA involvement[edit]

I can't believe theres absolutely no mention of the various involvement from the PUMA brand and company in this movie. There needs to be some mention of them.

Vincent Kok mentioning[edit]

Considering Cecelia Cheung and Karen Mok were mentioned, shouldn't Vincent Kok get a mention too? He had a minor role as the captain (i think?) of the first team that Chow plays in the tournament. Vincent was the main antagonist in God of Cookery, and has had other small roles in some other of Chow's movies.

WeightLESS vest...?[edit]

About the Animation section[edit]

The Animation section seems to be a bit confused at what its goal is supposed to be. There's a need to clarify exactly what this section should be about. Should it be about the CGI animation utilized in Shaolin Soccer or should it be about the animated adaptations based on Shaolin Soccer? The Mask (talk) 05:00, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needless use of Hyperlinks in this article.[edit]

By reading through it I saw that several hyperlinks were included that don't make particularly much sense. Do we need a link to the wikipedia article about acne or drugs?
