Backerloo Line[edit]

Would it be more correct to give Bakerloo Line for the all-stations silverlink metro service to Euston? --Concrete Cowboy 17:09, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

London Overground[edit]

The text claims that the station will be in Travelcard Zone A. To support this, a proposed 2010 map is given, which indicates that the station is in Zone A. This would also seem logical as Watford tube station is also in Zone A. For Oyster pay-as-you-go purposes this will be the case, however I was under the impression that Oyster travelcards wouldn't be accepted that far (i.e. Watford Junction would continue to be treated as a national rail station outside of London for travelcard purposes). I won't edit the text because while it's ambiguous it has some truth to it, but does anyone have a source clarifying the ticketing situation?

Apart from word of mouth (i.e. original research), this source seems to suggest that Oyster travelcards won't be accepted:

1998 accident[edit]

Subject v. Article[edit]

The article is "Watford Junction railway station" while the subject in the article is given as "Watford Junction station". Do not WP guideline advocate that the subject and the article should be the same? "Railway stations" seem to be purely heavy rail stations while "stations" have some important degree of interchange with other transport modes (metro/buses/&c). This place may change its status in the future but the subject/name should reflect its present status.--SilasW (talk) 08:17, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what 'heavy rail stations' are, but it is my belief that a railway station is any kind of station, small, medium or large, where passengers may get on or off trains. Heavy rail is the national system, as opposed to the London Underground and other rapid transit systems which are often described as "light rail". Regarding the naming, this follows Wikipedia:Naming conventions (UK stations), so when the Croxley link is opened and Metropolitan Line trains start running here, this article will be moved to Watford Junction station. But that's not the point: SilasW was writing more than three years ago, when the article looked like this, with an inconsistency between the title and the first sentence. WP timetabling[edit]

How much detail should WP station articles give about train services? This has loving particulars of every station served by trains from the station and what models of train run. Is that really encyclopedic? If allowed then every railway station down the line's article should repeat the clutter. The article is made even less attractive by the huge stack of coloured Previous and Nexts (all probably faithfully painted in the "correct" [but unexplained] hues). Given the quality of WP editing of non-specialist articles and the absence of a mechanism for systematically updating them, even if perfect when written, (s)he who used WP instead of official rail time-table sites might have unpleasant surprises.--SilasW (talk) 16:27, 7 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]
