Hello. With apologies for messing around in your userspace, I retitled your subpages with forward slashes, which titles have some technical benefits that should be readily apparent. I hope you won't mind. :-) —No-One Jones (m) 23:31, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hey, I don't know how you get your hands on all that chart data—I search and search and can't up with all that—but I'm in your debt for improving the chart info and format at Autobiography (album). Much appreciated. Everyking 09:15, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Quoth: I have released all my text contributions into the public domain.
Can you put this notice somewhere on your user page or User:DCEdwards1966/Copyrights with "MultiLicensePD"? That way we can have you explicitly stating this. Thanks! Ram-Man (comment) (talk)[[]] 13:21, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

Jonesville[edit]

Born in Jonesville, eh? (I checked your user page after you fixed my typo in Lee County, Virginia - I was curious why anybody would be reading that obscure article!) I lived in Pennington Gap in the early 1980s while working for the Kingsport Times-News - haven't been back in two decades, but one of these days I'm going to take the kids there. - DavidWBrooks 18:41, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Seven fixed[edit]

Done -- it's been awhile since I fixed a bad page move, but I think I got it right. BTW, if I nominated you for adminship, would you accept? I'm not sure you'd get in, since you appear to have only been active since September and I think some people prefer more time than that. Also, many (most?) of your edits are creating album articles with little more than the template and basic info -- this doesn't bother me at all, since it certainly makes it easier to add content when I don't have to go find recording dates and reviews and the like, but some people might not want to count these edits. So... it might be better to wait another month or two. What do you think? Do you have any particularly wonderful articles you've written I could point to? Tuf-Kat 22:19, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)

And you have been nominated! You'll have to accept your nomination formally at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. Tuf-Kat 03:46, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)

Van Halen: heavy metal?[edit]

Hi. I noticed on some of the Van Halen album pages you created or modified that you have classified them as heavy metal although the band page states them as hard rock. There is a distinct difference (at least to me), and I have always thought of Van Halen as a hard rock band, never heavy metal. RedWolf 04:05, Dec 29, 2004 (UTC)

albums[edit]

Hi! There's a response for you at User talk:Quill. Quill 20:35, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, after doing an extensive search, I came to the same conclusion that Evan and Jerry Seinfeld are not brothers. While they both are from Brooklyn, Evan is some 18 years younger than Jerry. This does not explain why Jerry Seinfeld had a cameo on Oz in which he was killed by Evan Seinfeld's character. Also, I recall hearing something years ago about the Seinfeld theme being written by Evan, and they Jerry played some of it as well, but reading about it now, it looks like someone from Incubus or some other band wrote it. Good work though.

Dear DCEdwards1966[edit]

(please refer to delete votes)

    • Dear Wiki contributors, admins & sysops. You have been mislead by Curps. Please see that article in question and decide for yourselves if deletion is a correct Wiki thing to do. I have decided not to pursue the re-naming of Curps's article 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and through consultation with other helpful Wikis, I have decided to start a series of Asian Tsunami articles on my own ... there is freedom to initiate such a move right ? The articles in questions is proposed to drill deep in the subject in question. In Asian tsunami : The earthquake I have attempted to focus just on the earthquake that caused the Asian Tsunamis. In Asian tsunami : Time-line (currently vandalised by Curps), I have drilled down to the exact minutes to minutes account of the waves of deadly tsunamis. I will be added other article in the Asian tsunami series like the humanitarian aspects, current news & occurrences etc. because I think it is the right thing to do. kenkam 06:55, 10 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Wikimania in Atlanta![edit]

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 09:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm aware you live in Tennessee; I'm just sending out the templates to out-of-state people who are active on Wikipedia and would probably be interested in the bid. Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 09:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Revert on Whitman Page[edit]

You reverted a revert that was a proper edit. Whitman was killed by Police Gunfire, not just ginfire, which could have been accidental, self-inflicted or a whole host of hypotheticals, my contribution clarified the method. Sherurcij reverted it without explanation. I reverted that with an explanation - twice. Are you subverting a revert war, with partiality? Also, what is the "practical joke" message about?

Thanks a lot[edit]

Thank you for reformatting Kansas City Chiefs seasons because I had been meaning to do it myself. I originally had it all ready to go a few months ago but I did not save the data when my laptop got unplugged. I was just about finished with it too! Oh well, thanks for doing it, I really appreciate it. I just nominated it for a feaured list. conman33 (. . .talk) 03:52, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zachary Jaydon[edit]

There seems to be confusion as to the relation between Jaydon D. Paull & Zachary Jaydon. They are one in the same. A large percentage of performers/artists don't go by their legal name. Any notability no matter which of the two names they are credited under are still assertions of nobility under either or both. Many people are eliminating anything that can be user uploaded or changed. I agree with the principle of this in general, however, videos, magazine scans and the such are irrefutable proof of events or facts no matter where they came from. If there is a video of Mr. Jaydon playing with a National Rock Band, you can't say that because it was put up by a "user" that the fact doesn't remain.

While every sentence of this Wiki Article isn't strongly sourced, it doesn't mean he doesn't meat notability requirements for an article. I have scanned and uploaded quite a few of my sources at: http://zacharyjaydonwiki.blogspot.com/

Also, the following was taken directly from WP:N#MUSIC:

Criteria for composers and lyricists

For composers, songwriters, librettists or lyricists:

  1. Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a notable composition.

Jaydon has written material on several Multi-Platinum records, including *NSYNC, Craig David, Ryan Cabrera and others. These WERE songs that were included on these albums. They weren't scrapped, or obscure B-Sides. These were songs included on official releases by MAJOR artists. He obviously has notable talent if these artists are choosing to work with him. This is obviously an arguable issue, but given the success of the albums his work has been featured on, it seems at the VERY least, notable. These credits are easily verifiable here:

([1], [2], [3])

The 3 above sources are all from www.ASCAP.com which is one of the most trusted sources used on Wiki for Songwriter Credit Verification.

([4]) also shows from a VERY large, Fortune 500 companies website with information on Close To Home and confirming Mr. Jaydon's Songwriting Credits. This website would be considered reliable on any front, and also independent of the subject himself.

Material on Jacksonville Jaguars[edit]

The reason for the duplication is because the Jacksonville Jaguars page is more informative and less work is required to obtain that information. As a Jaguars fan, I feel the information is pertinent ON the page, and it should remain as such. Augarcher (talk) 16:34, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, not all of the other NFL pages have that setup. Carolina Panthers is set up the same way Jacksonville Jaguars is. Augarcher (talk) 16:40, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

David Catterall AfD nomination[edit]

I don't think it will make any difference, but the article for David Catterall was a first nomination. There had been another site of the same name, previously deleted, but for a totally different person. I won't bother trying to change the codes (as I'm not sure how) but if you think this could cause a problem could you make the required adjustments. Hi, Good Girl Gon Bad is 2 times pletinum by RIAA what means that the album has shipped more than 2 million copies, but sales is not the same as copies shipped in stores. I recently corrected a citation that violated POV, and you changed it back. Rather than get into an edit war with you, I decided to ask you why you think it does not violated POV. Question on reverting vandalism[edit]

I have recently found myself scouring several pages in search of vandals and other articles that need fixing. I actually find this very fun, but get frustrated by the unregistered user. I have noticed that you have also been very good at this subject as well. My question is with the Edit summary. I have just been typing in "Reverting Edit", but have notice many others have been able to type in "reverted edit by whoever identified as vandalism to last version by whoever" Is there a "hot key" for this or do I need to physically type in all of that information?--Jojhutton (talk) 21:29, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

I notice you've been reverting several attempts to add an image to this article. The anonymous editor adding the image is, I suspect, a sock of several indef blocked editors - User:Bennet556 and User:Nimbley6 in particular, and a whole series of quickly indef blocked registered editors and anonymous IPs. The latest sock puppet report is at WP:Suspected sock puppets/Nimbley6 (5th); however, there have been several previous reports.

The editor has several "tells" - when editing anonymously their IP addresses resolve to Opal Telecommunications. Whether anonymous or registered they focus on Scotland - either removing "British" words from Scottish articles ("Amy Macdonald was born in Bishopbriggs, Scotland, UK" -> "Amy Macdonald was born in Bishopbriggs, Scotland") or adding British words to non-Scottish articles ("Jarvis Cocker was born in Sheffield, England, UK -> "Jarvis Cocker was born in Sheffield, UK"). The editor has an obsession with sub-headings and images (as you've encountered on Amy Macdonald (singer)). Recently they seem to have developed a new trait of engaging in bizarre attempts at discussion on articles' talk pages, most recently on Talk:Scotland (their comments have now been removed/archived).

Sock Puppet reports are difficult to follow through, given the large number of anonymous IP addresses and admins' understandable reluctance to range-block. I've taken to reverting on sight, and otherwise ignoring the silly troll.

Best wishes,  This flag once was red  01:13, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Revert on Spirograph page[edit]

Noted your removal of my link to SpiraPaint. Spirapaint is on topic and, to my knowledge, the only non-commercial and free program available that comes even close to replicating what both the Spirograph and Super Spirograph was able to do. I do ask people using the program for commercial purposes to seek my permission first, mainly to discourage graphic artists from using my program for profit.

I added the link back to the Spirograph page and feel it is in keeping with the subject matter. Cactus521 (talk) 01:16, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: 10/9/08

Saw you removed all the links to anything other than references to the toy. I've updated my own website to remove the link back to the Wikpedia article since you don't seem to feel such efforts have anything to do with the original toy. IMHO it's heavy handed editing, to purge the article of such references based on your sole interpretation of what respects subject matter. Not everyone can go out and buy the toy, but those of us who offer an alternative via a computer can give them the experience. Even the disabled can use our applications, which is not true of the toy referenced in the Wikpedia article. Although "Spirograph" references a toy which is a registered trademark of Hasbro, it's also become part of the vernacular when referencing any image that mimics what the toy could do. There are even examples using Powerpoint. To those with an open mind who wish to see what I was trying to accomplish by linking my application to the article, here is a link to my webpage:

Snopes.com[edit]

Hi there! For the record, I am a fan of Snopes.com and use it all the time. My previous comments on the article's talk page should show that I don't believe them to be particularly biased. I personally believe that most of the site's detractors on Wikipedia are a bunch of [insert ad hominem attack]s. That said, I think that they're right about the sentence I deleted, which you just reverted even before I had finished posting my explanation on the talk page.

The issue is not the relevance of the quote, as you indicated in your reversion. Of course it's relevant; the issue, however, is that the article is now using a quote from one of the subjects of the article, stating that he and his wife are "apolitical," as evidence to dispute claims that they are biased. I just don't see how a self-serving opinion from the subject of an article could possibly be considered a reliable factual source.

I have no desire to get into an edit war with anyone, so I'm not presently planning to undo your reversion, but I'd appreciate it if you would reconsider and delete the sentence again. If you still disagree, please respond to my comment on the article's talk page. Thanks! --Shadow (talk) 22:00, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The cataclysm trailor that was sent out by Blizzard shows at 4:01 "Heroic Classic Instances: Deadmines and ShadowFang Keep". By this line it says there is only a new Heroic version of both Deadminds and SFK, and not a normal 85 version. Also on www.wowwiki.com for both places it shows the following "A heroic version of Deadmines will be added for high level players in the upcoming expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. " Does not say anything about changing the normal version to 85. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lordstr (talkcontribs) 16:39, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging[edit]

Hi. Thanks for doing New Page Patrol, which needs all the eyes it can get; but when you tag an article, like "Charlotte perls" just now, you should warn the author - the speedy template on the article contains, towards the bottom, a standard warning for you to copy and paste to the article author's talk page. Otherwise, he doesn't know what has happened and probably thinks he pressed the wrong button and simply puts the article in again. Also, if it's a new author who has never had a Welcome paragraph, I think it's important to give him one - it softens the WP:BITEyness of the speedy notice, and gives links to useful pages like WP:YFA, so that he may learn. A good one for someone who has just put in a first, unsuitable article is . You can see the effect at User talk:Cooldudesocks. Keep up the good work! Reverts on Tareq Salahi[edit]

I saw you reverted the revert of my edits on this article. Per Bold, Revert, Discuss, I have started a discussion at Talk:Tareq Salahi#External links?. I invite you to join the discussion. --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 16:09, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article you tagged deleted as vandalism but..[edit]

Hello Archive 1. Thanks for the newpages patrol! Regarding Matthew Stidwill which you tagged for speedy deletion as a repost, I just wanted to drop by to tell you that CSD G4 only applies to pages previously deleted after discussion, at an XfD forum such as at AfD. It does not apply to pages that were only previously speedy deleted, as this article was. Note also that even when an article was previously deleted on the merits, G4 is only applicable where the reposted article is substantially identical to the deleted version and any changes in the recreated page do not address the reasons for which the material was deleted. Cheers. Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 19:29, 3 December 2009 (UTC)--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 19:29, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the revert on my user page. Evidently my placing warnings on user talk pages counts as vandalism now, well, at least in that editor's opinion anyway ;) SMC (talk) 06:47, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Spectre's "Powers and abilities"[edit]

I welcome the arrival of another registered editor to this dispute. As the response to my request for a Third Party Opinion was totally unhelpful and IP 70.115. etc., has struck again, what do you recommend as the next step? Personally, I'm tempted to delete the whole P&A section, as implied by the TPO. (I've put your talk page on my watchlist pending the outcome of this discussion, so you can reply right here and I'll be notified.) --Tbrittreid (talk) 23:16, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anon edit to Meredith Baxter which I reverted.[edit]

Cheers for catching my error there. I have apologised to the anon. Crafty (talk) 20:20, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. I had to look at the source to make sure. DCEdwards1966 20:22, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Template[edit]

Hi! I saw http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Los_Angeles&diff=332117285&oldid=332115799

I reverted this edit. Here are the reasons why:

  • This template exists specifically to link an article to the wikiproject about the article. It inherently is designed to do what you objected to
  • Wikipedia must uniformly have a set style, so we cannot have some people decide that Wikiprojects shouldn't be linked from articles while others believe wikiprojects should be linked from articles. It should be an all or nothing.

The incorrect step is to remove the LA Wikiproject template from just that one article
The correct step is to file a Templates for discussion request against the WPbox template and explain your reasons. If the template is deleted, then of course the Wikiproject won't be linked from the Los Angeles article. And if it isn't, then the template will be linked. User:Optigan13 nominated the template for deletion. See: Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion#Template:WPbox WhisperToMe (talk) 23:51, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello DCEdwards1966! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the article:

  1. J. D. Souther - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Bedtime Stories[edit]

Yo DC, you listed Michael Frossenkemper as an engineer for that album [6] [7] on the "Production Credits" section of the article. Can you tell me where ya got that information from and what links ya have to support this?

I'd appreciate your prompt reply. Jrod2 (talk) 18:40, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that it was from allmusic.com [8]. DCEdwards1966 19:26, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added the Allmusic references to that section. Thx. Jrod2 (talk) 19:49, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: golden ratio[edit]

Hi DCEdwards1966, You just reverted my edit (under a different IP address) to Golden ratio. For something to belong in the section on disputed observations of the golden ratio, there should be some claim that the thing being observed exhibits the golden ratio somehow. In the case of the light switch, there is no evidence for such a claim, and indeed any such claim would be inherently unreasonable (since in fact there is an exact known ratio of the sides of a light switch plate, and this ratio is not equal to phi). I request that you re-remove the content. Thanks, --18.87.1.234 (talk) 17:14, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sherlock Holmes Revert[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Sherlock Holmes.

Your revert was done without explanation. Therefore, the editor whose edit was reverted has no idea what s/he has done wrong. An oppotunity to have educated a possibly new editor to our various editing guideliness and policies was missed. Moreover, reverts without explanation can be seen to bite the newbies as well as have a chilling effect on their contributions. Finally, WP:REVEXP reminds us to use edit summaries to inform those being reverted as to the reason for the revert. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 02:33, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions Needed[edit]

Would you mind going to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abbotts Mill, Delaware and commenting with your opinion on the deletion I proposed? As a past contributor to articles for deletion in Delaware, I thought you may have knowledge whether Abbotts Mill, Delaware is a community or not. Thanks. D.B. Cooper Edit[edit]

Hi I was wondering if you could give me any information on a message you sent to an IP I use pertaining to an edit that was deleted on the D.B. Cooper entry. I don't ever remember doing anything on that page, let alone edit it. Also, the timestamp for the message was 19 November 2009, which makes this even more odd. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Gamefreak1346 (talk) 19:39, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
