Sharona Joshua[edit]

The sentence about Philip being married to Sharona Joshua has been deleted. Is there a good reason for this? It is printed on the liner notes to "The Bones of All Men", as well as being on this website: http://www.rootsandrhythm.com/roots/ANGLOFOLK/anglofolk_enp.htm so what's the problem? Discography[edit]

In the discography, under the heading Philip Pickett with The New London Consort, is the bullet-point item 'Carmina Burana vol 1 and 3'. Why only volumes 1 and 3? From the Amazon listings it is clear that volumes 1 and 2 are still available separately, and there is a boxed set of volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4. (It seems that volumes 3 and 4 were never issued separately, but I am not certain of this.)

I think, therefore, that item should be amended to 'Carmina Burana volumes 1–4'. PhilG (talk) 14:49, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Legal proceedings[edit]

Please do not add any information at all about legal proceedings unless you can quote a bulletproof reliable source for it. WP:BLP applies here and it will not be acceptable to include anything which is not properly referenced. We are NOTNEWS so there is no urgency about getting particular things in; there is a great deal of importance about only including verifiable information. If you do not understand these concepts you may need to read the links: please do not edit the article without understanding them. Thank you. DBaK (talk) 12:40, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks all for holding off until this became properly public. I think it makes Wikipedia look a lot more professional. And possibly also avoided us ending up in court! It would be great if we could still remember that we are NOTNEWS and there's no urgency - some of the recent editing, though undeniably excellent, seems to have been done with a bit of a sense of urgency and the edit history is getting a bit difficult to track - can we just slow down and take a deep breath and edit methodically please? This **** (ahem, no POV intended here) is in gaol for a long time now and we can edit calmly - he's not going anywhere fast. Thanks and best wishes to all DBaK (talk) 20:00, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

While not wanting to sound like an apologist for PP, it's unfortunate that this article repeats the reference to 'soundproof rooms' which was everywhere in the tabloid press at the time of his trial and makes PP's behaviour sound even more creepy and disgusting than it actually was. Of course PP assaulted victims in a soundproof room - he was teaching in a music college, and all the tutorial rooms are soundproofed so that teachers and students can sing and play instruments. --Ef80 (talk) 14:25, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Taking recorder player out of lead.[edit]

I have removed the reference in the opening sentence to his being a recorder player. First, it already says he is a musician, and a recorder player is a type of musician. Secondly, I don't think he is really known for the recorder more than he is known for anything else. He is known to play lots of early woodwind instruments and also for conducting and directing ensembles. Thirdly, I think it's fair to say that Pickett is really renowned for his contribution to early music and folk music, rather than to recorder playing specifically. If you're looking at the great recorder players that is more like Piers Adams, whereas Pickett has never been considered pre-eminent as a recorder virtuoso, rather, pre-eminent as an exponent of early music and folk music.--90.198.225.41 (talk) 13:29, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - sounds about right to me. What about the infobox too?? Cheers DBaK (talk) 21:52, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
