Opening sentence(s)[edit]

Sounds like it was written by a 4 year old, stupidly biased and waffles on about how the mini is superior to nano, as well as being incorrect, the mini runs on a hd, whereas the nano runs on flash memory. Nova prosp3kt 15:17, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

iPod 1st gen issues[edit]

Maybe I'm stupid but I didn't see anywhere on the page about how the first generation iPod minis had problems with clicking noises due to poor design. Supposedly there was a very connection between the board and the casing and when you would squeeze the mini or simply after repeated use, the music would crackle and click. This would explain the extreme shortage in supply right after the minis came out.Will 21:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the Storage Item?[edit]

Is the storage medium a Hard Disc that can handle almost unlimited data changes or a FlashRAM that will run out when I modify the contents of it 10,000 - 1,000,000 times?

It is a hard disk (and no hard disk I know of has the implied infinite life). The iPod Nanos use solid-state flash memory. StephenHildrey 19:43, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

copyvio[edit]

the picture is almost definatly copyright violation. It's right from apple isn't it? I'm going to change it to the older mini pic I uploaded a while ago. it doesn't look as good but it's legit. revert if the newer pic is legit. Breakage[edit]

I'm a noob to Wikipedia editing and all, so I won't touch this. I'm pretty sure it should be deleted, though. Weasel words by the pound.

Connectivity[edit]

2nd gen mini supports firewire and USB2 - it only came with a USB2 cable however. Have updated article to reflect this

Laser etching?[edit]

Some clarification on the purpose of the laser etching may be useful, probably just a few words are all that's required. Like, is it just so you can have your name permanently on the iPod, in case it gets stolen or something? --Super Jamie 09:40, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its simply so you can personalize your iPod. Some people put quotes or a lyric from a song. Many just put their names. Regardless of whats on there, it can be used to identify an iPod is it is stolen. AquaStreak 13:38, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Borat reference[edit]

Some minor edits:[edit]

Changing "ultra-thin CompactFlash Microdrive hard drives" to "Microdrive hard drives (CompactFlash II)" since there is a distinct difference between Microdrive and Compact Flash. "Ultra-thin" is meaningless in this context given that Compact Flash is thinner than Microdrive/CompactFlash II.

16GB CF cards are now readily available so I edited this:

iPod mini running iPodLinux?[edit]

Most iPods are not "supported". They still run iPodLinux fine; you just can't cry to the developers if something screws up. Honestly, my 4G's ("not supported") work with iPodLinux better than my 3G ("supported"). AquaStreak 13:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Microdrives for iPod Mini were not only made by Hitachi[edit]

Capitalisation[edit]

Per MOS:TM, we should present the product name as "iPod Mini", not "iPod mini". There is examption for the initial "i" because it is a distinctive mark of the product and there's an exemption for improper caps in the first two letters, but "~~Shuffle~~ Mini" should be capitalised per standard title case. I tried to change the title of this article to “iPod Mini” instead of “IPod Mini” since a lowercase i is the correct way to spell this product, but the move attempt failed because it said that I was trying to move the page to its current title... how do we fix this?
