Description[edit]

Can anyone describe what kind of a school this is? Public, charter, magnet, alternate, or any other special form? The website is vague. Is it a regular new public high school? Thanks,, -Willmcw 05:26, May 30, 2005 (UTC)

The school is public and currently holds about 1000 students. The Envision program has nothing to do with getting a head start on a career, it is an after-school art program running 4 days a week with 6 divisions: Digital/Fine arts, Theatre, Video/Film, Dance, Vocal Music, and Insturmental Music. The program regularly puts on shows and interacts with the North County community. In the future, it will start a program called Lead The Way that is similar to the Envision program, but it focuses on engineering. The high school is extremely new, most of the facilities are still being constructed. The school will one day have a maximum capacity, and will need to initiate a lottery each year to see who gets in, similar to the lottery seen at San Dieguito Academy, also in the San Dieguito Union High School District. Canyon Crest runs a 4x4 schedule, meaning each student has only 4 classes a day instead of the traditional 6 and each class moves twice as fast, meaning a class that takes a whole year to complete at a traditional high school takes only 1 semester at Canyon Crest. In this way, a student can complete 8 classes per year. This system is also used at San Dieguito Academy. Canyon Crest is famous for its unique school atmosphere. The assistant principal, Brian Kōhn, often refers to the school as a family and most teachers agree there is a larger sense of unity than the typical high school. Canyon Crest is also famous for its location in an area that is extremely rural for Southern California standards. It is adjacent to virtually nothing and looks quite comical in the horizon. The surrounding land is owned by companies who plan to build track homes within the next decade. Right now, Canyon Crest has no notable alumni, as no one has graduated from Canyon Crest as of yet. If any more information is needed, ask. 04:18, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

The above is a great description of the school and needs to be worked into the article.

If I have time I can do it... after all I just happen to be a sophomore at this school. Yay for me. Lindsey8417 07:43, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's with the "Graduates" section? Every school in San Diego has students that have gone onto those colleges. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.181.240.92 (talk) 04:59, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
