Kids with Macs and their own record labels are turning the pre-fab, Disney backwater of Orlando, FL into the Seattle of Electronica by John Wier; The 1997 "Hot Issue" of Rolling Stone, Issue 767: August 21, 1997Johnvr4 (talk) 20:16, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Florida breaks did NOT start in commercial environment. It evolved to it because of promoters and bars say the money aspect and marketability. There is no one who will dispute the fact that they started in the underground, in warehouses and vacant lots and barns all over Florida. I know this from 1st hand experience. I was there and part of it all since 95. This is first hand account. I saw the "boom" move from underground to clubs and then on to multi-million dollar venues. I have been apart of it all. But it started with black and white, paper, hand drawn flyers and one person bringing sound, another lights and so on.. . . I am not a computer wizard but slowly figuring out the rules of how to portray this thru this wiki. There will be no news articles on this as it was UNDERGROUND. The people who know, -know. They were all connected from all over Florida. Sarasota patrons drove as far as Jacksonville and Miami in 1 night for shows and events. . . vice versa with Melbourne, Gainsville, Ocala, Coco, Orlando, Panama City, Lakeland. The real origins and what makes this the FLORIDA unique sound is held in the hearts and memories of the goers from 90-96. maybe as far as 99. Eddie (Icee)/ icey is hailed king today for his role but "WE" remember seeing him playing and learning to produce in front of 5-10 people when other acts like Monk, Kimball were drawing thousands. But after that everything changed. Commercial business was more apparent than what was once true Florida Breaks. Take what you want from this but it is the Truth and need to be told that way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.9.84.146 (talk) 14:19, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Artists section[edit]

Is this section: Florida_breaks#Florida_breaks_artists redundant given this list: Breakbeat#Notable_breakbeat_artists? I did not compare nor did I check for notability. Johnvr4 (talk) 16:43, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The list of Breakbeat#Notable_breakbeat_artists does not appear to be a list of Florida artists. The previously non-referenced Florida_breaks#Florida_breaks_artists section (with Florida DJs) was deleted without discussion in this diff. I have recreated the section with notable DJs from reliable sources. I've also created a notable/reliable early venues section. Johnvr4 (talk) 20:49, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notability questioned[edit]

If according to User:Johnvr4 notability is already established it should be no problem to provide some good quality sources because at the moment the sources are extremely weak and poor quality blogs etc. Theroadislong (talk) 17:37, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong Perhaps if you could please see the first three sections on this page where notability of the subject was established in the first section. Then there are seven brand new linked sources in the next two sections as well as most of the numerous sources in the Beacham Theater #Late Night era: (1988–1994) Aahz and the Beacham_Theatre#Cultural_impact sections. I've removed the tag from the article because questioning the notability of the subject is absurd given the top three section above.
Perhaps you could please finish the discussions started here and here Johnvr4 (talk) 19:19, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You have now added more references that help to confirm notability, whereas before it wasn't at all clear. I am removing this article from my watchlist as I have no desire to engage with you further over this or anything else. Theroadislong (talk) 19:55, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
