very interesting. By all means include those references (including the Ambedkar one). I would be very interested in evidence for ashvamedhas conducted in medieval times. regards, dab () 22:19, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Colored Peers[edit]

It appears that the barony is still extant, which is reflected in our article (Baron Sinha). I'm not personally familiar with other cases of hereditary minority peerages or baronetcies; I know there's at least one Guyanan life peer, Valerie Amos, Baroness Amos. Mackensen (talk) 23:37, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)

You ask about the succession to this barony. The Complete Peerage describes it this way: "When the [2nd] Lord Sinha was born there was no system of registration of births and marriages in India, and consequently he was unable, on his father's death [(in 1928)] to furnish the proofs of identity which the House of Lords requires of every peer before admitting his right of succession. In 1936 Lord Sinha presented a Petition for a Writ of Summons, which was referred to the House and heard by the Committee for Privileges on 27 June 1938. Next month the House ordered a Commission to take evidence in Calcutta, and on 25 July 1939 the Committee on Privileges decided that the Petitioner had made good his claim." Thus the 2nd Baron is deemed to have succeeded de jure in 1928 but de facto in 1939. - Nunh-huh 01:16, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Gay rights in India[edit]

Per your request I have removed the stub tag (and fixed a link) in the Gay rights in India article. I have not read the article, but based on length alone it certainly seems too long tp be a stub. If I might make two formatting suggestions: 1) Write an opening paragraph above the first subhead and include the emboldened words of the title (Gay rights in India) in the text. This is pretty basic to articles. 2) move the link to sexual orientation out of the subhead and into the text somewhere.

Otherwise, keep up the good work. Sfdan 01:30, 30 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I would be happy to help on this article but I can't claim to know anything about it. Adam 01:50, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'll echo Adam's comments; I'd be happy to help out, and heaven knows you're right about the need to cover non-Western issues in more depth on Wikipedia. I can't claim to know a lot about the subject, though, so I'd have to be more of an assistant than a leader. Bearcat 03:25, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:IMRB logo latest.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:IMRB logo latest.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:08, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:IMRB logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:IMRB logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
