Talk:The Carolinas

Is there any reason why the Carolinas should be referred to collectively, aside from their names and close proximity? There is no special name for other pairs of states: Kentucky and Tennesee, New York and New Jersey, etc.

If there is some relationship, be it formal, historical, cultural, whatever, that causes these two states to be taken as a pair, this article should describe it (or them).

It does seem that they are (with some frequency) taken as a pair. If their names is the only reason, I suppose that should be in the article.

As it stands, this seems to act like a disambiguation page. Well, something like one, at least.
