Thematic Speculation[edit]

Re: "The album's title was, in part, drawn from the reasons for Taylor's divorce from Carly Simon. She gave him an ultimatum: cut back on his music and touring, and spend more time with her and their children, or the marriage was through. The album's title was his answer, and the divorce took place soon after."

This is what More Room in a Broken Heart: The True Adventures of Carly Simon by Stehan Douglas, published in 2012, has to say about this: "The album's title Dad Loves His Work was perhaps [my emphasis] an ironic explanation to his [James Taylor's] children of why he was rarely around....James would later swear that 'Her Town Too' was about Peter and Betsy Asher." This suggests to me that the Wikipedia article passage quoted above is purely speculative in regard to the meaning of the record title. I wouldn't object if the Simon bio were directly quoted in the main body of the article (NOT as a citation), retaining the perhaps, but I think it would be best for the article not to bring up the matter at all--unless someone can find a direct quotation from James Taylor himself explaining the title.TheScotch (talk) 05:45, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
