It seems to me that this fellow was much more widely known as Mobutu Sese Seko at the time of his death. Perhaps we should move this there? - Montréalais 04:30, 11 Aug 2003 (UTC)

His name was never "Joseph Mobutu." The article should use either his correct original name {Joseph-Desire) or his later African name. Adam 11:07, 29 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I've removed Many residents, fed up with his corruption and mismanagement, cheered the rebel forces in every town they seized, while government troops either fled or surrendered. I don't really know anything about it but it does not sound very NPOV or encyclopedic to me. Especially the cheered the rebel forces in every town they seized part seems a bit non-NPOV to me.
