Slayer[edit]

Merge Proposal[edit]

Should Russell Simmons Music Group be merged with this article, now that the labels have apparently merged? --ClickRick (talk) 10:51, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pefer to keep them seperate, as they are seperate labels you know and every label deserves an article with Wikipedia whether they've merged or not. --Taylor Karras (talk) 21:42, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
yeah that's goofy, can we remove the tags?

Def Jux fiasco[edit]

Can somebody please mention Def Jam suing Def Jux (known as Definitive Jux). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.113.143 (talk) 07:49, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RydazNrtist[edit]

Why does RydazNrtist redirect to this page when there is no mention of this group(?) anywhere in the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.84.43.2 (talk) 02:15, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistencies[edit]

The article says Def Jam was created by Rick Ruben and that Russell Simmons joined him shortly thereafter. But, the info box says the company was founded by Russell Simmons. It can't be both.

Also, the article says that the first single released with a Def Jam Recordings logo was T La Rock & Jazzy Jay's "It's Yours." However, the article for Rick Ruben's band, Hose, says their 12-inch EP was the first recording released with the Def Jam logo. Again, it can't be both.

I don't know enough about Def Jam to say which is correct, but hopefully someone can and will fix these inconsistencies. BucsWeb (talk) 14:00, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Def Jam in the 2010s[edit]

needs to be updated with more than just the executive shifts at the company. please include information about relavent releases in the time. Such as; both Kanye albums that came out, Good Music signing and releasing Cruel Summer, Frank Ocean's Chanel Orange, Nas's last album, or just go to there website and just see what's new that they got. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.168.0.14 (talk) 14:24, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 11 August 2015[edit]

Please fix the end of the page in Def Jam Recordings as it is a huge mess after the current artists section and needs editing.

James Mansfield?[edit]

The current link in the founders section for "James Mansfield" links to a british attorney that died in 1821. A cursory google search for this name in association with Def Jam's founding comes up empty? Is this a mistake?

Nasty C[edit]

The result of this discussion was merge. No objection raised, and the article creator has been blocked as a paid COI editor. Richard3120 (talk) 20:51, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Propose to merge the few lines of sourceable content from Def Jam Recordings South East Asia into this article – there isn't enough notability in the other article to warrant a stand-alone topic. Richard3120 (talk) 21:05, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, the initial editor of the article was almost certainly engaged in undeclared paid editing, as a previous username for that account was "Defjamsea". signed, Rosguill talk 21:28, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: it is unnecessary to have another article covering the same topic, just specifically in South East Asia. We could perhaps summarise the contents of Def Jam Recordings South East Asia into a section on this article. XLK123 (talk) 06:37, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
