Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your suggestion at Wikipedia talk:How to edit a page. I've made the change now, but feel free to be bold and make such changes yourself.

Here's some tips:

  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page.

Other useful pages are: how to edit, how to write a great article, naming conventions, manual of style and the Wikipedia policies.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Angela. 21:27, Jan 9, 2004 (UTC)

Nick, what techniques have you been using to get buy-in from the Aperture Technologies employees? I am trying to come up with ways to accelerate the uptake of MediaWiki here at Gartner with our version (which we call Gartnerpedia) on the assumption that the more people use it the more useful it will be to everyone. Several people say it sounds good and have created accounts but are often too busy to actually edit it. (We have only 100 articles so far, as per the statistics page.) Are you experiencing similar obstacles, or has nearly everyone embraced the tool? - Nanobug 18:57, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Apple ext links[edit]

Hi Nick - thanks for the note; I generally take a fairly hard line on ext links ("Wikipedia is not a repository of links"; see also Wikipedia:External links). The apple page has a history of being spammed by commercial links trying to promote their services or products, so these are far from the first I've removed. My general feeling is that an ext link should only be added if it is a reference used to support text added in the article. Looking at the site you linked, it is certainly a lot better than many I've deleted in the past, but I am still a little concerned about its local/regional POV. Perhaps the link (and the other two I removed at the same time) might be better placed on the List of apple cultivars page, as they can act as verification references to that page. - MPF 12:00, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
