From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability, to inform yourself.

Nerd Interests[edit]

I'm studying to be a physicist at the University of Virginia. My research interests include Quantum field theory, String Theory (as well as M-theory and Kaluza-Klein theory), and more broadly, Atomic, Molecular, and Optical physics. I also dabble in web design. The languages etc. in which I can call myself fluent include PHP, MySQL, JavaScript / Java, HTML, MS Office software like Frontpage and Access, etc. etc.

Musical Interests[edit]

After dabbling with the trumpet for about five years in early childhood, I gravitated toward the guitar because it offered perhaps an easier and more versatile outlet for my creative needs.

Influences[edit]

I love rock music, including Led Zeppelin, Tool, Metallica, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, The Grateful Dead, and too many more to mention.

Gear I Use[edit]

I've always used Fender amps, although I covet big Marshall tube stacks and have gotten great sounds out of Mesa Boogie and Randall setups.

As far as guitars, I have an ESP with 24 frets, neck-thru body, and floyd rose tremolo for narcissistic displays of chops and devastating metal sounds. It's not the top of the line, but I love it anyway. I've also had a Fender American Standard Strat ever since I started playing guitar, and it still sounds as sweet and juicy as anything I've heard. It sounds particularly good in clean channels and alternate tunings.

I've gone through a ton of effects pedals over the years, but I keep using the old MXR Phase 90, the Vox Wah, and the Boss Digital Delay and Chorus.
