There seem to be far too much lists of archaeological sites around. There is a list of famous archaeological sites by country and a list of archaeological sites by continent and period, which I inandvertedly started. Is there any agreement on nesting (or deleting) lists? --Yak 16:35, Mar 16, 2004 (UTC)


Two kinds of lists are useful: complete lists or weighted lists. (The rest are road-show David Letterman.) So go for it Yak! But better list titles are Most influential European archaeological sites with a one-sentence "why." Or-- dang what's the archaeologists' word for it?-- the Defining European archaeological sites i.e. Halstatt, or La Tene.


eponymous. But the eponymous sites are often not really important or even typical ones, Hallstatt being a notable exception. --Yak 17:03, Mar 16, 2004 (UTC)
