Ita is also a Jewish Eastern European name for females. It corresponds to the Hebrew letters Aleph Tet and Aleph, which stands for the Yiddish/Hebrew line "Alter Yomim Tovim Amen" translated as Long good days amen. It is believed that parents would give thir newborn girls this name if they were born with some sort of sickness This name is intended to ward off evil sprits and grant this new soul a nice, long, healthy life.
