Copy-paste[edit]

Eventually this article will have to be cleaned up in a major way for better explanation of what Desjardins Group actually is, instead of a sourced copy-paste of an outside article. Also needs historical context. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.37.131.113 (talk) 5 June 2005

I agree. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.49.78.147 (talk) 16:26, 10 August 2006

No concrete references. Is the author's IP address from Desjardins? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.92.21.99 (talk) 02:34, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Missing any historical context to the Desjardins group. Doesn't properly discuss http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphonse_Desjardins_%28co-operator%29 or his wife, who were instrumental in starting the movement. No discussion of the renaming of branches to remove Catholic references. No discussion of how Catholic churches were instrumental in the set up of the cooperative. No real historical background whatsoever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.199.65.10 (talk) 15:06, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

I also think it should be retitled. Mouvement? Where does this come from? I have been around them my whole life and I have never heard this. "Caisses Populaires Desjardins" or just "Desjardins" or "Caisse Pop". Dan Carkner 13:55, 22 September 2006 (UTC) Nowhere is it on the link given for "Mouvement Desjardins" either, someone help me out here.. Dan Carkner 13:57, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:DesjardinsLogo.png[edit]

Image:DesjardinsLogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

I've reevaluated the importance of this article for the cooperatives and Canada wikiprojects in order to put it on par with similar institutions, by the size of assets (it's 4 times the size of Navy Federal Credit Union and larger than the National Bank of Canada) and by virtue of its market share in Quebec (46% of personal banking, 18% in insurance). Proposed merge with Desjardins Insurance[edit]

No indication of independent notability, the minimal amount of referenced material could easily be accommodated in the parent article. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:29, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Due to recent modifications of the article, I suggest that we keep the article. I think the subject now has enough referenced material that could justify its existence on its own. Archibald Riverdale (talk) 15:44, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since no one was against my removing of the merging proposal and since it has been a month, I wanted to inform you that I removed the merging banner of the page.Archibald Riverdale (talk) 12:44, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Desjardins Financial Security[edit]

Agree with both merger proposals. In the absence of opposing opinions, I'd say go ahead and merge all three. Owen× 21:09, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the merge of Desjardins Insurance. However, I think Desjardins Financial Security should keep its own page; I've been working on it since the original merging proposal and I think it is important to keep it separated since the company is quite different than its parent (that is mostly reknown for financial services, and less for insurance).
