I've just noticed that the links for Valkyrie and Arngrim link to things that have nothing to do whatsoever with Valkyrie Profile, and instead are discussing the original mythology behind the names. While this is interesting, it is not what the game is about necessarily, since Valkyrie Profile puts a number of unique spins on the Norse mythology. These should either be redirected to pages about the Valkyrie Profile characters, or should be removed.

Characters[edit]

This is just a general heads up and a request. Anyone with detailed knowledge regarding the game's cast should probably take a look at the article Characters of Valkyrie Profile, which is linked through this article's Cast section. I'm doing my best to make it as detailed and accurate as I can, but there are more than likely some errors cropping up, and so if you have anything to add to it, feel free to help out.Hailinel 07:33, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Combat tip[edit]

I've removed the following in my rewrite. It's good advice, but needlessly vacuously written and has little place in an overall description of the system. --Kizor 19:25, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Magic users can contribute to the combos as well. In fact, it is to the party's advantage to have a magic user attack first with their assigned default spell, and then have the other party members attack as the spell hits the enemy since magical attacks cannot be dodged or blocked unless the enemy has had the chance to cast the "Reflect Sorcery" spell beforehand, which does what its name implies: reflects spells back at their respective caster.

The war[edit]

The Æsir and Vanir were actually at war for a short time because of some incident with Freyr, see the Vanir article for details.

Music[edit]

I think Sakuraba Motoi the composer of music in Valkyrie Profile should be added into the article. 71.250.63.157 15:16, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Valkyrie Fight[edit]

There is a homebrew (but very professional) fighting game based on Valkyrie Profile called Valkyrie Fight, and a sequal called Valkyrie Fight Tag. I think there should be mention of it in the article. Anybody have some good info? --ScarletSpiderDave 15:40, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Localization[edit]

There are a couple localization issues that are not covered in the article. For one, Belenus' recruitment scene had some vital information removed from it. There has been much discussion on the GameFAQs forums about this over the years. I have a topic on it saved in which someone [Ahjenta] sheds some additional details on the scene based on the Japanese PSP port. Basically Belenus' wife was Jealous of Asaka receiving more attention form Belenus than she. Thus she made a blood pact with Lady Beliza, the terms of which being she would give her own soul to Beliza if Beliza would take Asaka's soul.

Apparently when Lenneth checks the dresser at the end, she doesn't say "this means nothing to me" but rather finds the blood pact. Anyhow, this is a general paraphrase and I left some details out. I could contact the original author and see if we can have permission to use some of his translations.--Xerain 08:34, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VP:L & VP2:S European release[edit]

When was this revealed? Definitely not that I'm complaining, but I didn't hear anything about it, and I check all the best Square Enix sites I know everyday for new news86.133.233.15 17:46, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Proposal[edit]

It seems rather silly for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth to have it's own page when it's essentially a straight port with minor differences from the original... Though perhaps the Valkyrie Profile page should be merged TO this page to keep in line with SquareEnix's rebranding? They might just make a third game and that would leave the base page open for general series information. Lankybugger 18:35, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with merging, and keeping the new naming convention. There's no need for two articles on the same game. Onikage725 14:03, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, so the merge has been done. I still haven't gone through and checked for double redirects but I'll make it a priority. Lankybugger 15:49, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wait wait wait. Lenneth should have been merged to THIS page, not the other way around. It's a port. Voretustalk 21:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We can certainly debate this, but please don't revert my edits for no reason. I'm re-reverting them (just so that I can keep the work I did in unifying the articles handy) but am certainly open to a discussion about the pros and cons of going with one name over the other.
My thoughts are pretty simple on the matter... Square-Enix has rebranded the port as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth so that it fits into line with Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. This indicates to me that they're giving thought to expanding the franchise further. If so, it's probably best to go with Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for the page because that leaves the core page open for general series information. Moreover, the original Valkyrie Profile was released in 1999 while the port was released nearly seven years later and in increased numbers in North America, meaning that a good portion of the audience is probably aware of it as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth anyway. I'd like to hear your thoughts, of course. Lankybugger 21:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So... Seven months later all the double-redirects have been taken care of. So much for making it a priority... Cheers, LankyYell ○ 20:11, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
