Talk down here, thank you. Please make each new topic a heading.

The Biography Epidemic[edit]

  • Hey! It's cool. Epheterson 06:41, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
  • I see you've recreated your personal entry. Please don't put back pages that have been deleted after a community decision. If it was deleted once, it will certainly be deleted again, with a cost in time and energy for those involved. You seem to be good at page formatting and layout (much better than I am) so we could really use your help with other articles. There's plenty of work to be done. Isomorphic 05:56, 9 Dec 2003 (UTC)
    • Well, if you want a place to start, you can go try one of the WikiProjects. A lot of them are concerned with standardizing the format of certain types of pages (for example, WikiProject:Countries is standardizing the format for the country page for every country in the world. If you join a WikiProject, though, remember that it's a collaboration. Talk to one of the people on the Project, and ask what you can do to help.
    • Or, if a WikiProject isn't what you had in mind, look at the Recent Changes page to see what people are working on, and pitch in.
    • Or, you could take a look at the pages linked from my User page. I know Star Wars Customizable Card Game could probably use headers and formatting; I created it when I first got here, so my wiki skills were low. Isomorphic 06:32, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)

The Weather in London[edit]

  • It's good to know that the weather in London is fine. I don't think there's grounds for devoting that idea to an entire article -- do you? Dysprosia 05:50, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
  • Umm.. whats the problem? The weather in london IS fine. Epheterson 06:42, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
  • The problem is that the Wikipedia is not a weather service. Appropriate content would be something about overall seasonal variations in weather in London, something encyclopedia worthy. Would you expect to see "The weather in London is fine" in the Encyclopedia Britannica? Dysprosia 06:56, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
  • Please read the guidelines for this page -- one vote per user per entry is the rule. Thanks. --Mirv 06:54, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)

  • Hey there! Welcome to wikipedia. Just wanted to let you know that you should only mark things as "Minor Edit" when it's a *very* small change, like correcting spelling, or fixing a broken wiki link. Don't flag minor edit when you add a comment, or when you add or delete text. See Wikipedia:How to edit a page for details. Happy editing! Isomorphic 03:36, 8 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Your User Page[edit]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mazda4.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mazda4.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:31, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mazda3.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mazda3.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 23:57, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Failure images[edit]

I have no problem with your most recent edit, but it's still sort of redundant with the image in the lead section. Would you consider finding a different image on Commons or somewhere, and using that one instead in the "meme" section? Just to mix it up a little bit. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:30, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Train wreck at Montparnasse 1895 FAIL.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Train wreck at Montparnasse 1895 FAIL.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:05, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Train wreck at Montparnasse 1895 FAIL.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Train wreck at Montparnasse 1895 FAIL.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:32, 7 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 00:32, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've added copyright tags to File:Train wreck at Montparnasse 1895 FAIL.jpg for you. The original photo is PD due to its age (as you noted), and your addition of the word "FAIL" is PD because it doesn't meet the threshold of originality required to permit a new copyright on the derivative work. —Angr 19:57, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing the copyright stuff, I still don't know how to do it all, or even what is required. Epheterson (talk) 03:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Ericpheterson.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ericpheterson.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:36, 13 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 07:36, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:27, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Mazda brand logo (1992–1997).jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Mazda brand logo (1992–1997).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
