Amaterasu and the gluttonous Gou'uld (Neris?) played by Maury Chaykin need to be added to the list of Goa'uld. Chris 00:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Omoc (Tollan, played by Tobin Bell, episode "Enigma") should be mentioned. 2601:410:200:2C80:BDA6:7304:5A3B:C336 (talk) 08:24, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Minor recurring characters[edit]

Do we need the short lists of minor recurring characters on this page? They're already covered in the main race character articles. -- Yzx (talk) 20:06, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are several reasons why the minor characters should (IMO) be mentioned on this page:
  1. The article topic is "Stargate SG-1 characters", so it should mention as many characters (and actors) as possible. As wikipedia mostly cares about real-world information anyway, we could also lose the plot summaries and just create something like List of Harry Potter characters, but I wouldn't want that.
  2. I try to steal, erm, copy good ideas from other articles, but the only good character articles for real-life TV series (that I am aware of) are Characters of Smallville and Characters of Carnivàle. The first one lists every one-off character, and it violates WP:NOT#DIRECTORY in my eyes. I was a main contributor on the second article and consider(ed) it the ideal solution after many weeks of work, but that was only a 24-episode show. So we need another solution, and what's there now is how far I figured it out.
  3. Most of the characters in the "Miscellaneous recurring characters" section just appear twice or three times and have their own one-paragraph subsections, whereas many of the one-line Earth people and the Goa'uld appear in many more episodes (and have their one-paragraph sections in the "Race characters in Stargate" articles). If we removed the "Minor characters" sections now, that would create an even bigger imbalance. True, we could spin the Minor char section out into Miscellaneous alien characters in Stargate again, but that opens the same can of worms (risking WP:AFD for potentially failing WP:FICT and WP:WAF) that I am/was trying to close through merging.

I have trimmed Hank Landry (Stargate) and then merged (not redirect) him to this list of characters. Then I added every mentionworthy bit from gateworld interviews and my magazine interviews I could find, although there may be some more information in other magazines or in audio commentaries (but probably not much). It seems his article can't be improved to GA level, so I propose to get rid of his aricle and just cover him in this list. This will help this list to get to WP:FL in the long run, and will also help with a WP:FT I am slowly working on. This is the first Stargate main character who wouldn't have his own article, kind of a major step for SG's wiki coverage, so this deserves some discussion instead of WP:BOLDness. – sgeureka tc 20:24, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I kept my eyes and ears open for three months, but there simply is no sufficient encyclopedic info on this character to support a stand-alone article. I have therefore redirected his article here (it had already been merged before). – sgeureka tc 15:00, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger of George Hammond[edit]

See the merge rationale for Hank Landry (Stargate). Yes, Hammond appeared in five more seasons than Landry, but he had even less of a character arc. GateWorld only has a two-part interview (haven't read it yet), and my magazine coverage of SG-1 only starts with season 6, so I expect it will be very hard to write a GA on him even if more real-world info is added. I therefore propose to redirect his article hereas well.– sgeureka tc 20:24, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The merger of this Character into the list would not be doing justice to the importance of the character throughout the series. Having not really seen many of the episodes in the latter two seasons I can't really comment on how much of a character arc he had compared to Gen. Landry, but he is certainly one of the most important supporting characters for the first seven seasons, and also quite a popular one with fans. I find it hard to believe that with the screen time he had over the seven seasons there is insufficient info for the character to merit an article in his own right, the Gateworld article alone has much information missing from the main article, as well as a long list of key events that contributes much to the information on the character. --TomGibsonUK (talk) 15:59, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rodney McKay, and more[edit]

"A brilliant scientist", the descriptions on many of the characters here are to wage and some what poor and egocentric. Perhaps something more like just scientist or scientist involved in stargate program and later teammeber or so? --213.100.86.173 (talk) 17:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Be bold and improve this list as you see fit. :-) This list just tries to give a short description for each character (yes, some of the descriptions could be better), as the longer summaries are provided in other lists. – sgeureka tc 18:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
