I'm very impressed by the solidly referenced contributions you've made. Can I make a suggestion that you use author-date style referencing (so that the references begin either Author, I. (1980) or I. Author, 1980, rather than the latex default with date after the publisher), since it is easier on the reader when used in tandem with the recommended Harvard-style citations (ie. (Author 1980))? I'll help convert your citations if you are agreeable. --- Charles Stewart 18:15, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

I do not have any particular preference for a citation syle or another, so the one with years after authors is fine for me (it also give the advantage of you mention -- allowing citations without numbers).

As you probably have imagined, I automatically convert references from BibTeX to wiki style. I can do this conversion quite easily (I will probably post the conversion file in a subpage of mine, if considered useful.) As an example, I have now converted the references for belief revision. Can you please go there and check if citations looks right? If so, I will convert all citations on all other pages.

BTW, I think a standard for citations will be one thing for Wikipedia:WikiProject Logic, when it will start. Paolo Liberatore (Talk) 18:46, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

I looked at belief revision: exactly right. I haven't used BibTeX in years (it couldn't handle a few references in my thesis, so I switched to hand coding refs), but I'd still be interested in seeing the code.

However, I am not so much convinced that this TV station is notable enough: more precisely, I think it is at the borderline between notable and non-notable. I mean, I am undecided about this one. • Good question. I assumed that a notable TV station would have more Internet presence to begin with, and the fact that the local newspaper mentions it so few times is also another point against notability. In Italy, we have some local stations that only broadcast telemarketing programs during the day and advertisement for phone sex numbers during the night. Regardless of the number of stations these channels may have, I will always vote delete if an articles on one of them even appears here. My no vote is due to the fact that I am not from the area, and I have not seen any other editor from the area assessing the notability of the channel. I just do not feel sure about the issue. • Yes, if an article on Quiboloy is eventually created, this one can be merged to it. As you correctly pointed out, the TV channel is just one of the many creations of this guy. The talk page is the appropriate place. There should have been at least one Admin keeping an eye in the suggested changes, since the template is protected. Sorry about that, sometimes things don't quite work as it would be ideal. I'm on to it now, though.

Hi. I have seen some of the articles you recently nominated for deletion. I appreciate you efforts in trying to keep some non-encyclopedic stuff out of wikipedia. However, there are some standards that are currently agreed upon (for example, every town deserves an article, apparently). I suggest taking a look at Wikipedia:Deletion_policy and especially Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Precedents. Yeah thanks for the advice, but is this all about me nominating that one town? Yes I'm not a newbie and I've been on wikipedia for well over a year now and I'm quite familar with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Precedents. It seemed like such a small list as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Favelas of Brazil was unnecessary as it was a small list with half of the links being red. Such a list could of been included in the main article on favelas. Abstrakt 19:40, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Concerning AfD

I did what I thought was right, with the wrong tools and for all the wrong reasons. As the anon claimed in a copy of the template before Stifle moved it to the bottom of the discussion, I read the cry to make a calm plea to keep the article, along with the several following posts that went "hang on, according to their policies, we don't belong there yet", and interpreted it as attempt to meatpuppet-spam the vote.

In regards to the whole "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball" policy, I have told the viewers in the article about the future schedule of the musical, and that the production of it is already in progress. This is no way, shape, or form, speculation whatsoever. Nor is it advertising, because I would've listed ticket prices and would have excluded the plot summary and the extras that go along with the information regarding the future musical. What would at least been expected was someone to say "edit it so that it will conform more with the Wikipedia policies", instead of assuming the worst case scenario and short-cutting the process for immediation deletion. By the time you are reading this, I will already be editing the article so that it will conform more with the policies that Wikipedia has set in place. Other points of me to consider are:

- I am in no way prejudiced toward the color of any person in America.

- I am in no way making any of the information in the article up. I have talked with the Community Theater about their policies on showcasing new plays/musicals, and we reached the conclusion that it was okay for new plays to be introduced into the program.

- I have already sited sources for the verifiability for the other half of the article (Characters, Musical Numbers, etc.) so that it will conform more with the Wikipedia:Verifiability policy.

- I am in no way, shape, or form, a sockpuppet/reincarnation of a previous banned user.

With this, I leave this article to the wisdom of the impartial administrators, not the biased views of frequenting guests. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Cross site cooking

Using Alice and Bob naming standard, Alice being nice client, Bob being nice server, Mallory being mallicious server/client/whatever.

Cookie theft is a big subject and discusses a number of different ways to steal cookies. Steal = find out the value of the cookie. They all have this characteristic:

• Alice is talking to Bob, and they share a cookie
• Mallory is trying to steal the cookie (by some means)

Cross site cooking is much more narrow and is completely different:

• Alice is talking to Bob, and they share a cookie (e.g. Cookie: A=1)
• Alice is talking to Mallory
• Mallory is confusing Alice, making her think she shares another cookie with Bob (e.g. Cookie: A=2)

Also similar to Cookie poisoning:

• Mallory is talking to Bob, and they share a Cookie (e.g. Cookie: A=1)
• Mallory is lying to Bob, claiming they share another cookie (e.g. Cookie: A=2)

First, thank you for taking your time to help us on this.

Please be aware that because we are new to this we do try to look up and carefully follow all rules, etc. To this end we note that under Alternative tests that an item is: Google Test -- Does the subject get lots of distinguishable hits on Google or another well known search mechanism?

Using the name Luigi Ferrer specifically mentioned by Ciphergoth we find many pages mentioning him in conjunction with his work both as a well-known activist & author for the cause of bisexual rights as well as in the field of AIDS/LGBT Health-related issues especially as it relates to minority (particularly Spanish speaking) communities in the US.

Additionally, we seem to be in a bit of a Catch-22 situation here. In the US, Bisexual people are frequently marginalized, even within the larger LGBT community. And that can be even more so for women & minority peoples. So when you are working to start to correct this invisibility factor of certain historically under-represented groups, it is confusing and disheartening to be told that you cannot do that because they had not preciously been acknowledged.

We also wonder, did this happen because we had just put in the stubbs and hadn't had time to flesh them out yet? Is there a time limit on updates that we were unaware of? We did notice that the one we had started to put in the additional information on were not removed. CyntWorkStuff

Please excuse the Bio Stubs for Bisexual Activist's for not being more complete at the time they were first put in. We did not know we were not to do that. The reason is we have a division of labour here. We have some people who write & fact-check & others (like me) who are more computer literate actually formating & posting the data.

Having found that here, as in many other facets of life, that the bisexual community is either dismissed, invisible, written out of the story or our accomplishments incorrectly attributed to others, we have launched a concerted effort to correct the situation.

This is just a partial and hastily thrown together CV. Note that Mr. Ferrer is the current President of, on the Board of and the past director of the three largest non-profit bisexual rights organizations in the USA in addition to being a bilingual (English/Spanish) Healthcare specialist.

Thank you. We just wanted to make sure we did this all properly and did not get into some sort of Edit War, etc. One stumbling block we discovered is that one of the commentators on the matter Ciphergoth, who did properly identify himself as having familiarity with the topic, is actually a resident of the UK and these people/organizations are important in the USA. In hindsight, an obvious difference.

One thing we are still very confused about though is why there was no notification and/or discussion. One quick note to my talk page would have enabled all of this to have been cleared up in a less rushed and confused way.

How do we make sure notification of a possible pending deletion gets to us prior to the event next time?

PS These people are big-shots and get quoted and/or mentioned in passing lots of media pieces. We only have to include links to the major pieces, correct? CyntWorkStuff

Instead of deleting an article, you might want to take the time to actually help enlarge it. Wikipedia is a world community project, and while the letter of the rule may have been inviolation (and that is open for discussion), the spirit was not. There are goups of us that work on items in Wikipedia from a category stand point. This category was one we were working on, when you deleted the article the rest of the group missed it. I would suggest in the future you take the trouble to contact other wikipedians listed in the history and ask them if they are done before deleting an article. It is a problem with Wikipedian's, it is easier to delete an article that has very little in it, instead of doing the right thing which is to fill out the article. While I understand your reasoning, I do not agree with it. My opinion deleting rudementary articles hurts more than it helps. I would suggest before deleting an article contact the person that started it and ask if they are planning on adding additional information. --71Demon 19:40, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

X Window System articles

Thanks for your excellent work in this area, and on scoring another feature. And on making the protocols and architecture article not rubbish as it was when I first split it off from X Window System ;-) I occasionally try to fill out X Window System stuff, but there's so much to cover, historically as well ... at the moment I'm trying to find an actual standalone X Terminal, or at least a photo of one, so I can write an article on the rise and fall of the X Terminal ... - David Gerard 13:39, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Murray Curnow

Please contact me asap regarding the proposed deletion of an article written by myself. My main concern is that because you do not have knowledge of the life and works of Mr Curnow, you think the article is some sort of hoax. I must insist that you are mistaken and I hope you will redirect your concerns to me. If I do not hear from you directly, I will assume the aritcle has been verified as true and will remain on wikipedia. In addition, I would ask you to consider whether or not you can really justify the deletion of any article simply because you do not recognise it as knowledge.

In order for the article to stay, it is required to have sources (among other things), according to WP:V and WP:RS (also relevant is WP:BIO). In this case, the article was proposed for deletion because it contained no reference itself and I didn't find any. Are you for real? I confirm that my article meets those criteria. Give the article time and you will get other Murray Curnow enthusiasts adding bits. I think you may be being pedantic about this.

Hi. While commenting on your proposed changes, I found out that, according to the text at the top of MediaWiki:Monobook.css and MediaWiki:Common.css, changes to these pages should be proposed on the village pump.
