Hi Michael, thanks for fixing the vandalism on Francis Cardinal Arinze. silsor 08:27, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)

Keep in mind that WP:AUTO is just a guideline, not official policy, and thus strictly enforced. So the best way to deal with it is to just make sure it complies with the article policies such as WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:NOR, and WP:NOT. If it does not apply, you should edit accordingly. It should be noted that his Kat Desktop Search Environment survived an Articles for deletion vote. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 23:27, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Google Maps and the Channel Tunnel[edit]

Hi Michael! Just to let you know that I reverted your edit at Channel Tunnel. You added a Google Map with the note that it was a less detailed map than the other one in the External Links. I removed this because, first, why would anyone need a less detailed map of anything? And, second, if viewed in sequence, the two maps were identical (perhaps because of cookies being set by Google, I don't know).

If this is a problem, please let me know on my talk page. Otherwise, happy editing! ➨ REDVERS 22:23, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Sangatte map still seems to add nothing: at first glance (or, in my case, after the best part of twenty minutes staring at it) I still can't see where the line emerges and where the line then runs. Without that information, the map is of limited interest to an encyclopedia (kinda like putting a map of the whole UK in an article talking about Aston Cross in Birmingham - it's not off topic, but it's not exactly directly related either).
Personally I'd suggest leaving the map out, or finding another map to link to that makes it clear what the general reader is looking at. However, if you're determined to reverse my edit I'm not going to edit war with you and you should feel free to re-add the confusing Google image. Any other questions or comments, please get in touch: I'm always happy to help! Cheers! ➨ REDVERS 23:25, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apache HTTP Server[edit]

Hi. What was the rationale for changing "cache" to "cach" and Comparison of web servers to List of Web servers, prefixing "Apache 2.2" with a definite article, introducing a comma splice in that same sentence, and capitalizing the second word of a section header in these edits of Apache HTTP Server? Thanks. —Fleminra 00:07, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like your revision is a fork (so to speak) from this revision (13:55, January 14, 2006), which could be the result of a bug in MediaWiki, or some web caching misconfiguration anywhere along the line between the Wikipedia database and your web browser. Otherwise it could happen if you clicked "edit" while looking at that archived Jan-14 revision (in which case you would see "WARNING: You are editing an out-of-date revision"), or least likely, you clicked "Save page" 11 days after clicking "edit page"… this last situation should be detected by MediaWiki as an edit conflict though, since of course there were edits subsequent to Jan. 14. Anyway I suppose it's impossible to know exactly what happened. I've seen weird behavior before from Wikipedia, but usually the weirdness disappears within minutes (as all the databases and caches sync up).. Regards, Fleminra 10:21, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
