What Ive always found interesting was that the word 'tonto" means stupid in Spanish. Was this a purposeful racial slur? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.238.90.157 (talkcontribs)

And "Kemo sabe" is sound-alike for "he who does not know" in Spanish, so he did get a bit of his own back, anyway... Schissel | Sound the Note! 16:05, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
More precisely it means "Silly" as "Stupid" is cognate to "Estupido" the Spanish word and both, "Silly" and "Tonto" are milder than "Stupid" and "Estupido" respectively. Likewise "kemo sabe" sounds more like "[I] burn knows" But yep... It all sounds disparing and I doubt there is any true language to 'ffend those behind this work. -9:55 4/9/2006 GETB-

Trendle?[edit]

This article refers to somebody named "Trendle", but gives no information as to who this person is. Any clues?

George W. Trendle, owner of WXYZ and producer of the series. It had been removed by an earlier poster from the first sentence, but missed the later reference, and thus destroyed the meaning of the sentence. Someone had previously deleted the name and implied that Fran Striker was sole creator of The Lone Ranger. There's been controversy over who did what, but as much as Striker shaped the series and created Tonto and most of the supporting cast, he was hardly alone, and at least the concept of a Western about a lone former Texas ranger, by even the most unbiased accounts, came directly from Trendle (and the article on The Lone Ranger itself credits Trendle). -- Aleal 15:14, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
