Untitled[edit]

Inclusion of Fajitas[edit]

I went ahead and added Fajitas to the list, as they originate in Texas, and Texas is part of the Southwestern United States. If anyone has some sort of objection to this, (as is often the case when new information is added to an article,) I'll be happy to discuss it with you. I object. Tex Mex and Southwestern, contrary to popular belief, are quite different. Fajitas, as well as chile con carne and chiles rellenos, are NOT Southwestern, they are Tex Mex. Also, Texas is NOT part of the southwest, some of it is south, some of it is midwest. Jkhamlin (talk) 15:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, I think your grounds for objection are incorrect. I think that most uniquely Texan cuisine is derived from the Cajun, Mexican, or Southwestern traditions of cooking. Also, as someone who has lived in Texas for more than a score years, I can assure you that I am intimately familiar with the geography of Texas in relation to the United States. On a personal note, I don't try to lecture you on the geography of Missouri... Pygmypony (talk) 02:58, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cali-Mex?[edit]

It kind of surprises me that in the California section, only SM-style BBQ is mentioned. I'd have thought more southwestern cuisine would have originated from here. Carne fries, maybe? I need to look this up. I am a Golden Stater that likes Mexican and Southwestern, but has no clue what is authentic and what is Old El Paso-level.
