"Historic" means "precious because old" (an historic church) or "around which the course of history turns" (an historic day). This is the "historical" (being a part of history) CPC. I'll move it. - Montréalais

Renamed[edit]

Actually, just to be clear, Montréalais in fact did make exactly the article move he proposed in the above comment, which was a change of the disambiguator from "historic" to "historical". It is in fact the correct title here, because this is an article about a distinct historical entity which no longer exists, and not the history of the current Conservative Party of Canada — "History of the Conservative Party of Canada" would only be the correct title if we were to merge this, the PCs, Reform and the Canadian Alliance into a single article. Merger proposal[edit]

National Government (Canada) was a moniker used just once by the Tories in 1940, and I believe it would be helpful to people interested in the history of the Tories to merge that stub article into here. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 15:21, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would even go so far as to suggest merging this with Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. The two articles are about the same party before and after a name change. Depression[edit]
