Supernova[edit]

So is someone going to enter the information that astronomers are predicting a supernova there in five years +/- one year? link: [1] RobSVA (talk) 01:29, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Software[edit]

Why was the info about Cygnus Software removed? – Torsten Bronger 09:15, 1 Jan 2004 (UTC)

It was info about Cygnus Solutions that Eloquence removed. This already has its own article, so I've added a link to it. Cygnus Software appears to be an unrelated company. --Zundark 10:04, 1 Jan 2004 (UTC)

M29 mission on the picture.[edit]

No idea where those pictures come from and what the criteria for them where. But M29 seems kind of relevant. --95.96.117.68 (talk) 18:50, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Exoplanets section[edit]

I've added an exoplanets section as an experiment. See discussion on the Constellation talk page. AldaronT/C 17:36, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Direction of solar system through Milky Way[edit]

It might be worth mentioning that Cygnus is a helpful reference point because it points in the direction that the sun and the rest of the solar system rotate in the Milky Way. In other words, the line between Earth and Cygnus is approximately tangential to the Milky Way disc at our galactic radius. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jess Riedel (talkcontribs) 22:43, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whereabouts in Cygnus is the sun heading towards ? - Rod57 (talk) 02:39, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nowhere. The most recent data I can find says it is heading towards a point in Ophiuchus near the border with Scorpius. It is far from trivial to calculate this, but is thought to be accurate to within a degree or so. Lithopsian (talk) 14:56, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A potential (In Modern Culture) Subheading[edit]

Hi there, I was wondering if it was possible to add an "In Modern Culture" or "In the Arts" subheading for Cygnus? The rock band Rush released two songs in a series called "Cygnus X-1" and it references this constellation and the named black hole. I also recall other artistic references to Cygnus in literature (I can continue my research). Thanks! Progsphere0506 (talk) 13:00, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
