Aminorex was first seen in IRC channels and on Slashdot ca. 1997, and appears to be the pseudonym of a native English speaking male of European descent. Subject exhibits behaviours consistent with substantial studies of Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Physiology, and Linguistics, some rudimentary French, ancient Greek and Hebrew, and intermediate skills in modern Chinese. The pseudonym is clearly a reference to 4-methylaminorex, a mildly hallucinogenic stimulant also known as Euphoria, and widely prohibited as a drug of abuse; however, the motivation for the selection of this pseudonym is unclear, as the subject does not appear to associate with a drug culture or demonstrate use or advocacy of this or any other proscribed drug.
