Confusion[edit]

There seems to be a bit of confusion here.
DD-754 is the USS Frank E. Evans, sunk in June 1969.
yet USS Evans is listed as DD-752, and USS Franks as DD-754.

I have redirected the link to the USS Evans to the Frank E. Evans ...
USS Frank E. Evans (DD-754) -ts- 15:07, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Checking DANFS, I find
USS Evans is an index page for the Evanss; I've added USS Frank E. Evans.

Sort by name rather than by hull number?[edit]

It's incredibly hard to locate a particular Fletcher destroyer in the list. It really needs to be sorted alphabetically by ship's name, rather than hull number. The number isn't displayed, and most people don't know the hull number at all. Even people familiar with Fletchers probably only know the hull numbers of a few, small handful, of ships.  — sbb (talk) 17:15, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and made the edit, wrapping the list of ships with {{sort list|asc}}. This works nicely, producing an alphabetical-sorted list of ships in the navbox, but still having the list sorted by hull number in wikitext, for ease of list maintenance. I also did this for most of the other US Navy destroyer classes, so far.  — sbb (talk) 02:22, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
