IT PGRFA to come into force in June 2004[edit]

Whoever edits this page may wish to update the last part?

The Treaty requires 40 ratifications or other instruments of accession to come into force. Currently it has 35 (see < http://www.ukabc.org/iu2.htm > ) with Egypt the most recent. The list on this page should be updated as follows:

Ratification : Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Central African Republic, Cote d'Ivoire, Cyprus, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethipoia, Ghana, India, Jordan, Malawi, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic

Acceptance : Cambodia, Paraguay

Approval : Algeria, Guinea, DPR Korea, DR Congo, Honduras, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Peru, St Lucia, Sierra Leone, Uganda

Imminent: acceded / ratification (February/ March 2004) The Philippines, c. 10 EU countries

The Treaty is expected therefore to come into force in June 2004.

Hi Anthere

I have had a go at updating the entry on the Treaty. Made a bit of a mess of it at first and you will see numerous corrections to my edits (I must find out what a sandbox is).

glad you used the page as a sandbox though :-) Always good to see entries updated.

Anyway, it is now a bit more up to date. Later this month, it should be updated again as the first meeting of the CGRFA subsequent to the Treaty become law will be held next week.

If you object to my edits and he way I have one about this, please let me know and advise how best I can contribute in future.

sure not. I certainly hope you contribute more, and hope you will create yourself a user page so I can look at them ;-) I only formatted the external links in the way we usually do.

I have been following the negotiations since 1993 and intend to continue tracking them as the treaty is implemented. I would be happy to take some responsibility in updating the page, if this helps.

That will certainly help and I would be glad that you do so.

Many thanks

Patrick
