books articles and references[edit]
A bit of a game of "find PureBasic mentioned print" was played in an effort to save it from deletion. Now that the AFD is closed and the article is being kept, those references need to be cleaned. The books mentioned are fine but they would be better used as citations for material in the article. That would also help with the other big problem, the over use of the manufacturer's website as a reference. Anyone want to help with this cleanup?--RadioFan (talk) 11:49, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

- It wasn't a game of "find it in print" at all. It's just that we never knew about the notability requirements and thus never cited anything from print or publication. As for finding such notability, it took me less than 10 minutes of web searching. Anyway, all's well that ends well. @RadioFan: I'm sorry for the harsh tone I took with you. You also asked: "what magazine" and "what newspaper" for my cites. I have put them in the description: The Manly Daily for the newspaper article, and the magazine should be obvious in itself, since it's a covershot. That speaks for itself, and needs nothing to back it up. One last thing: how do we send private messages with Wikipedia to each other, as you've been doing to me? - Removal of the "Programming 2D Scrolling Games" book is unwarranted... you seem to think it was never published. Here are 3 web pages that prove its existence: (1) http://socoder.net/?topic=520 has people offering it for sale, (2) http://forums.purebasic.com/english/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=41122 is discussion of the book, including details and a photo, and (3) http://web.archive.org/web/20071218150136/http://www.shareit.com/product.html?productid=300023962 had the book for sale for a time. - Is this a self published book? It's mentioned on the forums (as you have mentioned above in the first 2 links above) and a no-longer-active sales site. However I'm having difficulty finding the book by the ISBN. WorldCat, Amazon, and Google Books have no record of a book by that ISBN number or title. A Google web search on the title brings up some additional forums. Unfortunately the forum discussions dont help establish existence of this book only speculation about it.--RadioFan (talk) 18:53, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Licensing model[edit]
The article states 'PureBasic has a unique "lifetime license model"' but it's not "unique"; BBC BASIC for Windows has (and has always had) the same model: a purchase entitles you to lifetime updates. RichardRussell (talk) 09:12, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
Latest release?[edit]
There is a bit of an edit war going on about whether 5.20 or 5.21 is the most current release. What reliable source is out there to support what the most recent release is? Anything in a secondary source? —C.Fred (talk) 15:01, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- -- As far as I can tell, 5.21 LTS is the latest official release version. Note forum thread updated by developer citing Final version release http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57264
- Also, on the site downloads section, where demos are accessible, 5.21 is listed as the latest version. http://www.purebasic.com/download.php

5.21 LTS is a minor-version service release to 5.20 LTS. It contains bugfixes only and is functionally equivalent to the major release. As 5.20 is released with long term support, more of these service releases may be expected over its two-year support span. At present, 5.2x may be considered to be the latest version, whatever x may be at the given time. PB Bullfrog (talk) 19:21, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
