This has turned out to be a mess! There is no complete list of awardees, despite the Smithsonian's list at the NASM. There are numerous people who claim to have received the trophy who are not on the list. Amazing.... Bollar 05:58, Sep 6, 2004 (UTC)

Possible error?[edit]

The 1999 Aeronaut award is listed as Brian Jones (which may well be the mans name), but links to a member of the Rolling Stones who died in 1969...

Thanks for that. I'll clean up the ambiguity. Bollar 22:39, Sep 6, 2004 (UTC)

Name format[edit]

I've listed the names in the exact format that they were listed when they received the award. I think that's the most logical way, but I'm open to discussion. Look at Amelia Earhart Putnam for example. Bollar 23:56, Oct 15, 2004 (UTC)

Name to add to list[edit]

My dad won the Aeronaut's trophy in 1954 -- though this says that there weren't any winners in '54 -- I have the photos, the program, and the winner's medallion itself to document this. How can I make this correction? (Sorry if I'm not doing this right -- my first time and all -- new to Wikipedia.)

Go ahead and make the edit. Wikipedia requires published citations, but as far as I'm concerned, the program published by the awards folks is more than enough of a citation. A scanned copy sure would be a nice addition to the article, too! Akradecki 03:01, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All of the records are in disarray and many of the source documents were lost in a fire or flood (boxes stored in the caretaker's basement). The aeronaut records before 1999 are incomplete for sure, so if you have information on your father, please do update it. Bollar 20:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I assume your father was Carl Seiberlich. I have updated the main page to recognize his achievement. Would be great if you could share any pictures! Bollar 23:08, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missmatched columns?[edit]

Is the 1956 Ross/Lewis Aeronaut award shown here actually the 1957 award? The NYT citation for the 1956 award[1] says that it was the 1957 award. Similarly, the NYT citation for the 1957 awards[2] say that they were the 1958 awards. Seems that the table should be checked as there may be a miss-match between year and award columns in two or more rows.

There is often inconsistency in the reporting. The awards are given in the year following that which they were earned. Sometimes NYT called the awards for the year received, but the trustees dated them when earned. Bollar (talk) 05:57, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
