  • Delete. No evidence presented that the word is in significant use with that meaning. Not on our very, very extensive sexual slang list. Worse yet, the word is used with other meanings. It is a frequently re-created nonce word. http://www.greenout.org/info.html is a non-notable organization that politically opposes the "greens." A conservative columnist [http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34184] says that an electric blackout was really a "greenout," i.e. caused by ill-conceived environmental policies. A sports column [1] describes an Anna Kournikova loss as a "greenout." "Greenout" is apparently a word used for the use of green paint by Caltrans and perhaps others to make deletions on road signs by painting over words to match the background color. A random synaptic firing just brought forth a totally irrelevant, obscure song lyric which I feel compelled to share, even though it is utterly irrelevant to this discussion.   • Also irrelevant, but my favourite "greenout" in my googles for this one was apparently coined by an Antarctic scientist: "seeing green again after having adjusted to a 100 shades of white". Presumably intended to be the opposite of a whiteout. Pnot 21:00, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Comment: Fire Star, i did not intend to offend anyone when writing this article. We use the word amoung my uni mates, and i noticed that wikipedia didn't have an article, so i wrote one. Looking back i probably should have looked on the big G before i wrote the article, as it appears that since there are no Google hits it is not a word that is in common use. Neologism, but my suspicion (since using the term in that sense is implausible) is that this is a camel's nose article to which "greenout" in the sense of "brownout caused by environmentalism" would eventually be added "as an alternate meaning" in an attempt to boost its acceptability.
