Why he is not described as German-Polish in the introduction[edit]

1) He never held political office in Poland, and the political career which is notable took place in Germany.

2) He was of German ethnicity, a member of the German minority in Poland when he lived there.

3) The term "German-Polish" would usually mean someone of German origin who did something notable in Poland/is currently living there.

Herbert Czaja was an ethnic German who only became notable as a politician in Germany. He was a Polish citizen in his youth, but this information belongs below where it is appropriately dealt with. on first i want change the note about Herbert Czaja, but i think that discussion is better... so i'm going to write more about this person.

But return to the point. Herbert Czaja was Volksdeutsche (It weren't only Germans out of Reich. It was also Pole who colaborate with Germans and Czaja was such person). I have to agree that he was working on Jagiellonian University, but not only as a lecturer, since january till april 1940 he was administrator and he was responsible for liquidation Jagiellonian University. One year before he became administrator-liquidator he had became post-graduate, so his knowledge about realities at the university was very importatnt for Germany who occupied Poland. What more his activity lead to wave of arrestations polish professors (international law which was active during II World War treat this liquidation and imprisonment as a war-crime). After he winded up an university he teached in Zakopane and Przemyśl in Germans' school for polisch traitors (volksdeutscher) and children of Germans' invaders.

Why he couldn't join to NSDAP?!... He simply coldn't because he wasn't German (nazi law forbided non-German people join to NSDAP). So in year 1940 he joined to German Community (Deutsche Gemeinschaft), it was created for volksdeutscher in Generalne Gubernatorstwo (General Governorship/ ger. Generalgouvernement).

By the way, i would like advise to read books e.g. Norman Davies who is writing a lot about situation in Poland during the II World War.
