  • looks like original research; all I find are WikiPedia dupes on Google, and on Groups, I find nothing really *at all* (really very bad) except a single discussion 10 years ago involving John Talbot, principle investigator of said phenomenon. 132.205.95.64 04:30, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. I get the impression that several scientists have been working on this subject, and if so, it is not any one Wikipedia contributor's "original research". (Why is there this phobia against "original research", anyway?) I just searched on [Altavistafor "laser stars" and it said "AltaVista found 601 results". Anthony Appleyard 11:39, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

    • The article refers to the laser star hypothesis, which is an alternate explaination for quasars, and not to laser stars, which would be something different. 132.205.94.6 19:17, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • The article is also not about adaptive optics and the use of laser guide stars produce by shooting lasers at sodium atoms in the upper atmosphere to guage atmospheric fluctuations, but about stars that might be an alternate explaination to quasars. 132.205.94.6 19:35, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • keep so far and rename to "laser star model" look for laser star quasar -wikipedia and you get some astronomy sources which suggest that quasars really are laser Stars[4] which lead to this paper [5]. I like the Galileo quote at the bottom of the Varshni paper. Very apt for Wikipedia :-) :-) Mozzerati 19:58, 2004 Nov 17 (UTC)
    • looking further into this, the theories are very strange; they seem to be mostly determined to prove that a) there is no red shift and b) the earth is at the "center" of the universe and c) the earth is flat^H^H^H^H .. most likely a mad christian scientist theory, but probably still worth keeping, if just to trash it.
