Untitled[edit]

Someone keeps vandalizing this page and putting non-Af-Ams on this list (such as Adolf Hitler). It's really not funny, and I feel sorry for whoever's wasting his life doing that. You need a hobby, Mr. Anonymous Loser. Aroundthewayboy 14:07, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was startled to find Alex Haley, the author of Roots and Malcolm X missing from the list. Less startled by Chester Himes, the Harlem Hammett not being there. Himes wrote the Gravedigger Jones -- Ed Coffin Phelps series.

some help?[edit]

Would any Langston Hughes fans mind helping me out, over on page color metaphors for race? One "PhilWelch" keeps trashing and reverting the page I started. I'm 141.161.54.36 . Thank you! Your additions are much welcomed.

The input of experienced Wikipedians who grasp NPOV is especially welcome. Tverbeek 1 July 2005 04:42 (UTC)

Media as categories[edit]

Any interest in making categories,

  • fiction
  • nonfiction
  • dramatists and screenwriters
  • poets

for this list? Dogru144 03:43, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a thought[edit]

what use is this page? I dont mean this as an insult, im just wondering who would use/need this page? Thedreamdied 22:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Those interested in: studying African American literature, finding African American novelists, short-story writers, poets; being novelisss, short-story writers, poets. Noroton 20:57, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes on March 8, 2007[edit]

I removed the two columns setting to make the list one column again because room needs to be made for information on individuals. I've added some information on individuals taken from the now-deleted "List of African Americans". That list had footnotes, which I've retained here. More footnotes are needed. I have noticed the existence of the (very incomplete) List of African-American nonfiction writers article. Perhaps a List of African-American novelists article should be created, and this article be split between the two? Otherwise, List of African-American nonfiction writers should probably be deleted. — The Man in Question (gesprec) · (forðung) 08:06, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Error, or else?[edit]

Bonjour,

I have noticed the name of Brianna Stewart in the list. First, she is not African American, second, she is not a writer. At all. Not even remotely.

There might be other mistakes of the kind: is somebody having fun?

Regards. Zefrenchgal

Black writers writing non-black subjects, fiction and non fiction[edit]

Why are non-American writers on this list?[edit]

Why does the header for this list of African-American writers say that non-Americans can be included? How is a South African/Batswana writer, who never left Africa, an African-American writer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.182.0.55 (talk) 07:12, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Which writer is that? It seems reasonable to include non-Americans who are resident in the US and contributing to African-American literature. I edited header to clarify.Freespirit456 (talk) 07:24, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:African-American gospel which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 23:18, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
