User:Topbanana/Reports/Survey of interwiki links on popular articles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Overview[edit]

The table below indicates which of the most popular articles (defined as those having the greatest number of links to them) in the English language wikipedia have links to them from other language wikipedias. It was generated on 7th June 2004 from the 30th May 2004 database dump.

Preamble[edit]

One of the most unique things about Wikipedia is that it is multilingual. Articles covering more or less the same subject written in different languages are linked together with Interwiki links. Popular articles should be thoroughly interwiki linked. Consider adding links to and from non-english articles for entries missing them below.

Key to the survey of interwiki links
Links exist to and from the English article and this language wikipedia
A link to the English language article from this language wikipedia exists, but not from the English article back to the language
A links exists from the English language article to this language wikipedia, but no articles link back to it from the language
No links exist to or from the English article and this language wikipedia

Suggested improvements[edit]

  • This page is hard to edit. Need to split it into separate tables of perhaps 10 entries to keep the section size down, and to add html comments to the cells to indicate which langauge they refer to. - TB 10:03, Jun 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • An indication of the foreign language article linking to en is needed for blue (and perhaps green) entries. - TB 10:03, Jun 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • Try using Wikipedia:Top_10_Google_hits to determine the "most popular" articles. - TB 12:36, Jun 9, 2004 (UTC)
