Welcome, and Haifa[edit]
Hi there, and welcome to Wikipedia!
Your contribution at Haifa Through My Eyes has been nominated for deletion by UncleG. This is nothing personal, against you, against the good city of Haifa, etc. I'm an inclusionist, in favour of including many articles others (like "deletionists") would want to delete. But I agree with UncleG here, and I think everybody will.
The problem is that Wikipedia isn't just everything we want to put up - Wikipedia is a project to write and organize information the way an encyclopedia would write and organize information. For one thing, you wouldn't expect to look up the title "Haifa Through My Eyes" in an encyclopedia. Also, it expresses your opinion about Haifa, and is written as if it comes from one author. Once we submit something to Wikipedia, it should be ready for other people to change around at will. From the moment we contribute something here, it's not entirely from you or me - in a way, it's from every Wikipedia:Wikipedian.
So I'd like to suggest three things:
- If you went back to edit Haifa Through My Eyes and deleted what you had written there (please do save it on your own computer), we could wrap up the time-consuming Votes for deletion process quickly, and everybody involved would be happy.
Then:
- Go to Haifa, get a sense for how that article is written and what it includes, and if there are relevant additions you could make in the same sort of style, please add away!
- Also, you might like to join the parallel project at Wikitravel.org. It's run by different people and it uses a different copyright license, so you can't just cut and paste from Wikipedia to Wikitravel, unless you're contributing there something you've written here yourself. Wikitravel is the travel guide Wiki, and they have an article on Haifa that could use expansion. Take a look at Jerusalem to see how it's done.
