What is the problem here? Jan Egelands merits are common knowledge, and does not need more 'proof' than is needed for other biographies.Egil 18:33, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Ruy Lopez is on a bit of a minor rampage. He just removed the Peninsulas category from Hafun, with the same message pasted above in the Talk, and I'm not quite sure why outside references are needed to prove that it's a peninsula. "stingy" statement[edit]

Egeland made a statement that portrayed wealthy Western countries as being "stingy" in humanitarian effort, a remark that dominated media coverage for several days. It got a lot of attention--with almost everybody taking "wealthy Western countries" to mean one particular wealthy Western country--but surely "dominated" coverage is a bit much. Should his other remark be added:

NICK GRIMM: The United Nation's emergency relief coordinator Jan Egeland today acknowledged the important role being played by military helicopter crews, being provided by nations including Australia.
JAN EGELUND: Those helicopters are worth their weight in gold now. [1]

Lest anyone miss it, these governments will no doubt count the operational and consumable cost of tangible asset allocations as a dollar value in their final tally of their contributions. So unless American helicopters times the price of gold adds up to more than 0.2% of American GDP, Egeland still nailed the donkey on the nose when he upbraided the world's wealthy misers. I'm writing my congressmen and looking up humanities professors to see if I can get someone to nominate the guy for this year's Nobel Peace Prize before the Feb. 1 deadline[2]. With one bold observation, he's shaken loose more diplomacy-grease than anyone in history. It's hard to war with someone when you're swooping down to rescue their babies from the flotsam of their towns and showering their poor with bottled water and cash. Is it really necessary to start this article with "This article is about the Norwegian politician. For the Ylvis song, see Ylvis."?
