Is this "a" colosseum? As i understood it there was only one, the one in Rome. Did this amphitheatre also have a colossus next to it?

You're probably right...it should be an amphitheatre, not colosseum. Adam Bishop 22:13, 6 Mar 2004 (UTC)

According to Commons, Image:Apollo1.JPG is from El Jem, can/should it be included? Maybe this article needs a gallery at the bottom... 64.126.24.11 22:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bloated disinfobox[edit]

The disinfobox at right seems preposterously inflated for the mite of information it carries. --Wetman (talk) 05:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The arabic translation: "Ksar El Djem"[edit]

The arabic translation both in the start of the article and on the map of the infobox transcribes to "Ksar El Djem". That is the name in arabic for the amphitheatre itself not for the town/municipality.

Ksar in Arabic means castle and that's what the amphitheatre is called, I guess because there is no word for amphitheatre in Arabic, at least not the popular dialect in Tunisia.

'Ksar' from the arabic name of the city should be removed. I'd also remove the map altogether which will also help on the bloated info box problem reported above.

Now if I could only find an online map of Tunisia in Arabic.

Gladiator main scenes[edit]

Is it actually relevant to El Djem that the main scenes of the movie Gladiator were filmed in Malta? I feel if you want to know about the movie, you can go to the film's page. I would suggest removal. (i have already taken the liberty to remove the following sentence which related to Troy being filmed at the same site on Malta - that definitely had nothing to do with El Djem) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.221.73.75 (talk) 02:43, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
