I second the hope that you will use the quadruple tilde (think of it as a Spanish brand) to sign your comments. It's hard to carry on a conversation if several people are "talking" and can't been told the one from the other.P0M 05:04, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Why not make the material on breeding better horses part of a new article. I saw that you wrote it and then deleted it. You can still get it back from the "history" of that article. You can go to "horse" and create a link to "Breeding and the better-behaved horse" or some such, then when you've saved that edit, click on the link you just made and you'll come to the empty article, which you can edit by copying your materials earlier deleted into that spot. Maybe somebody else will have a better idea of where that material should go, but your material is good enough that it won't just get dumped by some dumpster.

I would be interested in pertinent information about the Morgan horse. My first horse was a part-Morgan that had been castrated rather late. I got Peavy when he was about 15. I had him on 20 acres, and I had to zig-zag him into a corner to catch him every single time, oats or no oats. Once he figured I had caught him fair and square he became a perfectly tractible mount. Other teenagers once threw a string of firecrackers out of their car in an attempt to see a show when we were out walking the margins of a road that marked the periphery of our town. Peavy just looked at them like he knew as well as I did that they were jerks. I think my dad figured he had bought a new rider a horse that was so old he couldn't run either faster or farther than a human being. Little did he know that Peavy would run like a 3 year-old and would jump too. The Morgan might be thought exceptional only because it is a "light draft" animal, and of attractive appearance, but to me the main attraction is that combination of willingness to go all out either in fun (making the dam' boy chase him) or in need, and yet having extreme good sense. I would guess that Morgans make the best police horses. My current horse is an Arabian that I started when she was just turning 4. Before that time I had been thrown once by a horse that stopped dead in front of a piled brush jump about 4 feet high and gave me the honor of making the jump in his place, and that was about all. This mare is very solicitous, but can make a right turn in about one step when she sees a black racer or whatever is new that day, and I have lost count of the number of times I have abruptly dismounted. To her credit, she always stands there and looks at me with a perfectly innocent and concerned expression... That's not to malign her. I think she really is concerned. I had a seizure a couple of years back, and the lady who found me said she knew something was wrong because my mare was going crazy trying to get through the fence to where I was. The lady who owned her dam said that at one time another of her mares had difficulty delivering and was down all day long. The other horses ignored her, but the one I now have, Springer, walked up and down the fence separating the two of them the whole day long until somebody came and assisted in the delivery. I think that caringness probably is the result of the breeding and selection that made Arabians members of their desert families. P0M 05:33, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
