recent change back from a redirect[edit]

I didn't make the recent change back from a redirect (except for this talk page), but it is probably the right direction to go. I've copy-edited the new article. However, I believe that it is by no means a complete list of groups that call themselves or have called themselves the Communist Party of Peru, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the dates are wrong; also, it doesn't clarify which party the Sendero split from. Someone might want to look at Liberalism_in_France#The_timeline as an illustration of a good way to handle this sort of thing. -- Jmabel | Talk 07:13, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

Actually this doesn't function as a disambig since there is only one party (i.e. Sendero) using the name PC del P. Info on other parties should be shifted to individual articles. Alternatively convert the article into "Left in Peru" or something.

Besides, a party does not have to be currently using the name for this to be worth discussing. The term "Communist Party of Peru" is extremely ambiguous in an historical context, and this article should make that clear. -- Jmabel | Talk 15:56, May 23, 2005 (UTC)

Movimiento Nueva Izquierda[edit]

Does anyone know the status of the MNI in Peru? I think Patria Roja might lead this group (at least the parts of Cusco that are dominated by Patria Roja murals are also dominated by MNI murals and flags), and they seem to claim that they have formed a broad coalition of all the Marxist parties in Peru. Puka Llacta[edit]

If anyone could shed some light on Puka Llacta, I'd appreciate it. I'm almost positive that they don't exist anymore. They were Maoist, and I believe that they officially backed the "People's War" during the 80's and early 90's, though I don't know if they actually participated in it. Name of this article should be changed back to "Communist Party of Peru"[edit]

I think that the name of this article should be changed back to "Communist Party of Peru". This article is really not the history of Communism in Peru. It doesn't talk about all the other many parties that existed and exist in Peru that consider themselves communists. It only comprises the parties that have used the name "Communist Party of Peru". So, it should be named "Communist Party of Peru". I do not understand the rationale of changing the name.--AAAAA 13:59, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Read the article. It does not related to parties named "Communist Party of Peru" (which the intor suggests). At this time there is only one group (or grouping, as it appears to be internally divided) that uses the name "Communist Party of Peru", i.e. Shining Path. It don't have any knowledge of any other party having used that name in a previous period. It is well possible that the Peruvian Communist Party initially would have used that name (which would be more in line with ComIntern regulations), but i've never seen a source specifying that. --Soman 22:59, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The article STARTED as "Communist Party of Peru". Some people then added information and maybe changed the "flavor" of the article. But I still think this article is not the history of Communism in Peru, as a reader would think when reading the title.

Furthermore, what about these parties, which I believe also used the name Communist Party of Peru, adding their extra information at the end?

Communist Party of Peru (Unity) should be Peruvian Communist Party. As per the others, I have not seen any material that they at some point used the name "Communist Party of Peru". PCdelP(ml) was definately never used that name. As per Patria Roja, I don't know about their early period, but today they always attach (Patria Roja) to their name, never just PCdelP. --Soman 09:37, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
